Moving To El Paso
Hey I'm moving to El Paso in the summer to go to UTEP and I was just wondering if anyone on here knew a good location where the University is easily accessible as well as the army base. I have about $1500 a month total to spend on rent and I know water is expensive down there so if any of you could help me out it would be appreciated. Thanks.

hey I'm from EL Paso. UTEP has dorms called Miner Village and start around $300/ month. The cost of living on the westside of EL Paso is very high I think compared to where I live. I have one friend that lives on the west side of EL Paso and pays about $600/month and goes to UTEP down the street. You mentioned about an army base the only place I know is the street Fred WIlson and Alabama that will get you to UTEP. Many apartments are around the area and are not cheap in my opinion. hope I helped, but I can't guarantee a good location unless I show you.
you can get an apartment close to UTEP for around 450-550. Don't sweat it. Check out apartmentguide.com this should give you a real good idea. I dont know what your talking about water being real expensive, though. I mean I know it's the desert and all but it's not really expensive. Hope thais helped, good luck with the move.
Thanks for the help...Does El Paso really suck that bad? When my car is out of the shop which should be another month or so I'll probably drive down there and maybe ya'll could show me some of the city. My grandfather lives over by the airport, Subaru/Suzuki dealership...Montana maybe? Anyways he has an old car and it got stolen a couple months ago so he advised trying to find somewhere with a garage. Aside from living but are there any tracks around El Paso? Thanks again.
Yes, after being judged by Mens Health Magazine as the most sweaty, stupid, fat, or whatever else, at least we have a slight positive environment. Cost of living in el paso has a lower rate than any other major city in the U.S. correct me if im wrong. oh, and EL Paso does have a drag racing area on the far east side.

I liked El Paso too. I used to live there from 1995-98. The only thing I didn't like was the sand storms. I didn't have a car back then and I got caught in one while walking. It wasn't fun.

oh shiet! doesnt sound like fun at all!!!
I am from El Paso originally AKA El Chuco lol. Anyway, there are a lot of cool things to do. The west side has a lot of bars to hang at very close to UTEP. If you like drag racing you can go to Thunder Alley on the east side. You can also go to red sands (far east side on Montana) and romp around the desert dunes which is allways a blast. Juarez Mexico is like 10 minutes from UTEP as well. Was fun in high school not sure how it is now.
El Paso is fun if you know the right places to go to. Like said earlier, theirs alot of cool bars and clubs in the downtown/Kern Place area. Theirs thunderAlley and Desert Demons for 1/4mi racing. Arroyo Seco for track events. Theirs also tons of realy cool places in Juarez, Mexico to go eat and party at. Cant complain about all the hot girls in EP and the fresias in Juarez also.
