Default 350z vs Crossfire!!

whats up fellas i went home this past weekend to louisiana..And a good buddy of mine just purchased a white crossfire. we were at a club and they let out everyone at 2am like normal...So my buddy takes off and heads home and i leave like 5 minunits later and i catch up with him on the interstate and i guess he felt pretty good about his car and started to challeng me to a race. its like 2 30 in small town louisiana and there about maybe 10 cars on I-10 east. I am crusin about 60-65 mph and i politely put my car into third and that jerk takes off and i just start laughin cause i knew the thrashing that he was abot the recive was going to be brutal..given he takes off and gets about 5 or 6 cars on me and i then punch it in third and begin to quickly eat up that lead he had by the time i am halfway into fourth he is in my rear and at the top of fifth he is back like 6 or 7 cars so i laugh and slow down thinking he learned his lesson this dumbass still wants to race and he zoom by. My room mate the passenger is impressed of the power and said he never went 130mph before and so i slow to about 100 mph and as the crossfire passed i drop it into fourth and i let hell unloose in my enjen and i quickly catch up by the top of fifth and as i shift into 6th he is long gone so i keep punching it and my room mate is screeming like a b i t c h!!!because of the curve in the road and going uphill and we were still acclerating i was going about 155 or so at the middle of of 6th at about 5000 to 5500 grand on thr rpm and as i slow down and exit my friend in the crossfire looks as if he baught the wrong car like his sports car wasent so sportty i wish you guys coulda seen his fas it was sheer disapointment. and yeah my room mate stoped screeming like a bitc h finaly. now that was a spankin if i ever saw one...what a waist of 40gs if you ask me!!!

Man, I love Crossfire.....especially the white one's (non-convertible). It's a shame they're so slow, but I still love them.

Aren't they built of the same platform as the SLK 230?

Default Similar Experience

I've had somewhat similar experience with a Crossfire as well on the George Bush Turnpike.

It was a Wednesday and I was cruising between 75 - 80mph around 11pm. I come up to a car and notice that he is starting to speed up and match my speed so I don't pass him. Turns out the guy is driving a Crossfire, not SRT, and stays in front of me. I am normal distance behind him and just a little curious what this guy is up to. I'm not the type of guy to instigate a race but this guy takes off and I decide what the hell and drop it to 4th. At this time the guy already has a jump on me and surprisingly I start to catch up to him from 8 car lengths. This guy is not half-@ssing it and is really pedaling. I eventually pass him and keep on pulling on him and I still have what feels like allot motor left. I let off at 135mph and he just hangs back behind me and takes the first exit off the freeway. I take it that pride and shame got the better of him.

I've done nothing to the Z and don't get into many skirmishes on the freeway. I'm just really surprised that the Crossfire doesn't have any ***** for what you get and what you pay for. Granted you can get the SRT version but a car that looks fast should go fast without having to spend extra $$ to get the "high-performance" version, You know?

I have a black Crossfire SRT-6 coupe. I have done nothing to the car mod wise. The fastest I have been in the car is around 161, and there is plenty left. This car is amazing if you ask me!

That's strange. According to Car and Driver magazine, the SRT-6 has a speed governed limit of 154 MPH, which is a little slower than a stock 350z. In SRT-6 setup, the Crossfire is a pretty good performer. Actually pretty similar to a 350z.

i had a black 2005 crossfire before the z, 6 speed, they are no joke even the non supercharged ones, i got a 14.4 at md track with my crossfire there spose to run 14.7, i ran a friends z and he did beat me but not by much maybe 2 cars from a stop, from a roll the z only pulled about a half a car untill about his 5 gear then a full car or so.

Smokey why did you say up there earlier that you have nothing done to your car, but now you say you had it reflashed? seems to be that is a bigger mod than an intake or exhaust. How would you forget about it?
