The dyon day thread is not showing all the pages so this thread will be for the result.
I had a great time and I have to take my hat off for Chris, HPP and NTN
We need to do this again in 6 months so everyone will have a chance to get the mods they want. It will also be alot cooler out side.
My best was 252.5 and 229.9
I will post the sheet when I get it.
2005 Base Model
My mods are: JWT popcharger
5/16 MD spacer
port and polish intake
Bypass the intake coolant
Nismo Y pipe and exhaust

Here Dave so you dont have to write it all again.
Smoky -
I think I'm the first home today, so here's my results.
If I'd have stuck with my earlier prediction (and not listened to Chris
) then I would have performed higher than expected. I think I first predicted 230whp, and then at Chris' request I raised it to 250whp.
The first run (blue) is low because the tester backed out a little early. The second two runs (red, light blue) are to near redline.
In the end, I max'd 243.8whp, and max'd 219.5wtq but not on the same run. Numbers were pretty consistent on the last two runs.
Power-adder mods:
Nismo R-Tune CAI
Nismo R-Tune Cams (Stage 1)
Nismo R-Tune Headers
Nismo S-Tune Y-pipe
Nismo S-Tune Exhaust (Stage 1)
and a Nismo lightweight flyhwheel..not an "adder", but applicable here nonetheless.
Now, I'm not out to make big numbers with this car. That was what my last car was for (and it was a reliability headache). This car is about fun, so I'm very happy with these results. Though I think maybe I felt a wave of disappointment as the numbers rolled out.
I think folks were hoping to see more out of the cam. I was too a little, but I knew the Nismo cam was not an aggressive grind. Revs nice tho.
But don't let that discourage anyone who may be thinking of purchasing Nismo parts. They are TOP NOTCH, and believe me the cams, headers, exhaust, flywheel, clutch, and suspension combo really make this a whole different car. Even if the numbers don't reveal it. So if you're thinking of going Nismo...don't let these numbers fool ya! The fun factor is there 100%. (I sound like an ad for Nismo..lol But I like to stand up for them cuz I think they are often overlooked because they are "mild").
Of course, if you are out for peak hp numbers then perhaps Nismo isn't the way to go.
I will say that I didn't expect such a flat torque curve with such a low peak! It explains why the car is a blast to drive in any gear.
I wish this chart would have displayed the x-axis as rpm and not mph. It would be more meaningful. And I didn't get a copy of the a/f test, but it looked spot-on during the live-display. Or at least, what I would expect. I don't think I was running quite as rich across the board one would see stock, but probably still too rich. That's the OEM ECU for ya. Keeps me outta trouble though.
It's one of those ego things... I know there's more hp there and the ECU (and my grandma-style driving habits) tune the mappings down a bit. There's a little "dude" in my head saying "you know you want to see all the power!!" lol
The thoughts of a UTEC cross my mind. If there was someone down the street who had a proven and demonstrable track record tuning the UTEC then I would get it in a heartbeat. Just cuz it seems like a fun mod and it's relatively safe in the right hands. "In the right hands".. worth being said twice. Like I said, reliability is paramount.
Anyways, today was a blast! Food was good (Thx North Texas Nissan!) and as always the company was awesome! I always love a good dyno day!
Thanks Chris for putting this together and making it happen! I know that much have been a bit of work, so thanks man!!!

Well I had pretty much what I expected with a stock Z and an automatic.
My best run was:
230.7 HP with 218.4 Torque
My only engine mod is a pop charger.
I must admit I was hoping the 2006 would have more HP which they claim.
A huge difference from the 279 HP they claim in their ads for the AT and
300 HP for the MT.
Next up is a Plenum Spacer. Maybe I should hire someone??? to do some
polishing for me. LOL!!
Anyway, sorry I had to leave without going on the caravan to the dealership,
but I had a great time.
See ya all next time!

Since everyone is posting up their #'s, i'll do the same!
highest was 249.4 hp, 231 torque
mods: Xerd long tube headers, greddy evo 2 exhaust, md 1/2" spacer, popcharger.
Mics: if you assume a 17% drivetrain loss, it comes out to about 277 hp at the crank. So thats about right since manufacturers claim flywheel hp and not rwhp.

I ended up at 239.9 HP and 215.0 Tq.
Only mod is the Nismo CAI so I cannot complain at all....it's real close to what I expected and for a basically stock vehicle I am happy......
Dave,
I agree with you 100%, Nismo Mods are safe and effective and yeah if you did tune your car you could probably get more out of it if, and i will repeat if, you know someone who can do it properly....Your car is aestetically perfect so whether it's 240 or 250 does not matter cuz driving down the road in a cruise, everyone looks at the Nismo....

Max Torque = 230.43
Mods: Popcharger, MRev2, Topspeed Pro-1 exhaust (y-pipe back)
-------------
mics-z & mandm177 - They claim 287 hp at flywheel for autos on rev-ups. The drivetrain loss for autos are more like 20%. That should give you 229.6 whp for your car and you dyno'd at 230.7 whp which is almost dead on.
Note: The conditions weren't ideal - it was way too hot that day. The conditions were 98.xx°for most of our runs. So your numbers will reflect that and have lower numbers than expected.
P.S. - I'm Chris, btw. So, if you want your dyno files (either as-is or you want me to convert it to an image file of your choosing) just PM me with your email address.

Thanks Travis!
It's been a few days since the dyno and I'm already about to let the UTEC slide out of my "plan"...again. lol I do this a lot..especially with this one piece of tuning. Part of me wants it cuz it would take more advantage of the combo. Part of me wants the UTEC cuz the car may run even better with it, including things like mileage (not complaining...still better than any other car I've owned). And part of me wants it just cuz it would be a rockin mod! lol
But the rest of me (seems to) know better, and that part knows that the UTEC would in the highest probability yield lower reliability, lots of tuning expense, and in the end I'd probably net an extra 10hp or something.
Like Acree said, it can be removed if it doesn't work out... And that's true. And it would be nice to have the all the valet mode features of the UTEC (including data logging).
But still... she's perfect now. :-) I probably won't bother with it.
That's what dynos do to gearheads though, ain't it? The last time I let a dyno dictate my mod plans I ended up with a fire-breathing 500hp unreliable nightmare. !! lmao

smart thinking Dave, your car, imo, is just fine the way it is, start messing with it and you never know what you might end up with....besides like i said earlier, going do the road you got us all beat, but not for long, bwahahahaha

Smoky I think the your numbers would have been better if we would have just reset your ECU and wipped off all of that half AXX driving you do.
I would do that before going utec. I did mine that morning. Then I did a buck fourteen to HPP. Worked for me

Good one! Smartass!
I have reset via batt disconnect... But then I half assed it some more, so it's a new map, but the same grandpa drivin. lol
