Can I ask why that is?

I'll give the basics, dont want to highjack the thread

left is considered feminine and right side is considered masculine,
The concept was developed by the greek artists, but there is a more sciencfic role that can be researched, am not going to get to deep into but mostly that the brain responds with more energy on the right and thus giving a stronger feeling.
If you look at early art of women they tend to be on the left side to give a softer, more desireable feeling. Pictures of man or pictures of god will be on the right side.

Perhaps nothing better to prove my example is from watching WWII **** proaganda(sp?) films. (the masters of powerful compostion) The camera will be low and to the left of Hitler, therfore he will be on our right side and looking down on to us, but never at us. It gives off a powerful image, but when there was America footage of Hitler, the camera would keep him to the left of the frame full body shot and eye level height, thus he appears more normal and not such a treat.

this goes for virtually anything, as for the direction on what way something is facing, its more up to the artist but on a car the front should point to the middle of the frame but not always

All my work is with Video and shooting people but all the techniques and compostion apply to still photo and cars(you cant get to artistic with cars there just too big), am no means a expert but am sure I can aleast offer some advice to help you understand and learn a few things.
I admire anyone going to the trouble to set up something for mere practice

I wouldnt mind coming, depending when this thing is going down, or aleast meet up sometime.

If I can make it out, I dont want to come in and take control of your shoot its your idea after all, but I'll bring a few things that can offer some help although its not inteaded for still photo cameras also I can show you how make sun-diffusers and matte boxes that are cheap, and effective alternatives to the real deal. I just believe you should atleast attempt to do it as proper as possible without causing great expense and complication.

It'll probably be better to do something like this when it is a little bit cooler, like in october or something...unless you don't mind the heat Dallas weather is alot better than Houston weather IMO; Houston humidity is high. Consider McKinney airport, I'm sure they will let you do it on the runway...It's not a busy airport (yet), mainly just private small planes and not much traffic at all.

well if someone knows owners.. or someone high up, that would probably be easier to arrange.. but lets def get the ball rolling on this and get someone to talk to the airport and see if they are willing.. and if you guys would like to push it off till october that might be best for everyone, because it DOES get hot in Texas Period..

Gryphin, dont know if your are part of any D70s forums but I noticed on a Panasonic camcorder forum am a member of, there is a fairly interesting 60+ page photo contest thread on the D70, also goes into settings, color correction and composition. Might be helpful on learning to go full manual on your camera

Gryphin,
I take you to the track and teach you everything I know (which admitedly, ain't that much), and now you want to run off to Dallas to do some photo work...and you never even told me that you like doin' this sort of thing.

I am soooo dissappointed in you, my padiwan

If you want to get back in my good graces, contact me (you've got my email) and lets set something up !!!

p.s.- I really like the San Jacinto Shots. Remind me sometimes and I'll show you the ones I took of my 350Z and my Datsun Roadster out there.
