If you REALLY want to get that much better, come to DFW. I will get you tons of people that'll get you practice. I mean we can't all go to Houston for the free photoshoot can we? One person coming is better than many people going.

that is some of the work I have done, with my old nikon and my new... i would be willing to meet people halfway between houston and DFW make get some pictures going at a rest stop... which i think would be a cool backdrop...
if you have any other ideas on where to meet, since i dont know DFW feel free to post some spots and let me know, because i will see if i can make it up there if i like the location..
River legacy park should give some great pics too... especially since there is a LOT of wilderness backgounds... fantastic grass and such... there are also a few places where kids are playing soccer and stuff... IMO it would be a good location...
the DFW Airport is another good locations... since i work there i will drive around and find a few good spots... where DPS won't get suspicious either...
I'll try and get a few scenery pics to send so you can get a feel for the area...
also... the next time that a few of us go to Texas Motorplex in Ennis would also be a great chance to get pics of a huge variety of vehicles...
a great photographer would always be appreciated at Events...

Yeah, awesome location suggestions Anthony.
Why don't you come up to DFW and we can do a photoshoot at the airport or Texas Motorplex (the 1/4 mile dragstrip, which is what I prefer for the photoshoot). If you wanna do the dragstrip one, let me know and I'll find out what days we can be up there to race and take shots.

Hopefully this happens sometime soon in my area. The runway shot would be awesome.
tell ya what... we should coordinate this it an out of schedule meet... same as the last time i went to Ennis...
it was between meets... so probably before we run down to Motorplex, we'll stop by the airport... then go on down to Ennis... daylight shots of the airport are better anyway...
then spend the night at Motorplex and get pics of races and stuff...

Yeah, but i don't wanna get shot in the process!!!
so some plane overhead shots and landing shots will have be the best...
i mean i could ask the airport board if we could meet on the runway and hold up the runway for a photoshoot and delay aircrafts at $1000 every 15 minutes... but... i don't think they will be sympathetic to our requests...
unless we all as a club approached them and asked for a few minutes on a runway... with lights and stuff... maybe a plane landing right over us... that would be great... i'll look into it... lol lol lol lol

Gryphin, You shots are nice, I'd I known your where into photography. We could of talked, I was at the last meet you where at and saw you taking shots
I've used to be a freelance cinematographer for various networks and some indie films.
If I may be alittle critical here, I relieze your using natural lighting and dont have complete control of the cars in some of the photos but I notice a few things that might help you in your upcoming shot. all depending how serious you are.
1: White balance, looking at certain picture, you didnt set proper white balance, or you simply left it on automatic which never works that well.
2: dont forget composition seperates the pros from the noobies, study
rule of thirds, and depth of field (you need a 35mm lens to do this proper, dont know what camera you have)
3: cars look more agressive facing the left from the right side and more sexier facing the right from the left side, so keep that in mind when there a certain look your going for.
4: lighting control, natural lighting is tough to master but it can be controlled with some simple effort, if your going to be in direct sunlight you going to be disappointed in the outcome if you dont difuse the sun rays and dont "cool" the image using white balance
I could go on more and will explain futher if your interested. good work overall really like the first outdoor shot where was this at? and are you doing everything manual (iris, shutter, etc)?
This photos shot sounds pretty cool, good luck--
