get on 183 North aka Research Blvd. go past Capital of Texas Highway aka Loop 360 and exit Braker Ln. Make the u-turn under the highway. Turn right on Great Hills Tr (if you cross Loop 360, you've missed it) , go through one traffic light and the Chase bank will be on your left.

I heard about the WRX. I was towards the front of the pack trying to catch up with that freakin' black vette. Man, that thing was wicked! Anyway, stayed behind Cadgod most of the way -- had fun staying behind his tail throughout Lime Creek. He was very familiar with Lime Creek so it was great to see two Zs taking those tight curves. I'm glad I installed my new suspension kit this week before this drive. The Progress Tech sway bars kept the car tight the whole way. At one time, we had three Zs back 2 back -- Redline, Daytona Blue & my Silverstone.

Hey Cadgod, I thought I saw your red Z on two wheels taking on one of those tight curves? Also, got a cool video on Lime Creek when I was doing 93mph trying to chase you down! I'll have to figure out how to post that one . . .

Over all i was dissapointed with the trip... .

Too big of a crowd to have fun. They should have broken them down into groups no more then 5-7 in order to have fun.

Some dumb kids in their Evolutions and WRXs decided to chase the M3s and ended up racing only to find the Blue WRX barely saving his *** and the Silver/Greyish one being swiped straight into the grass and then the wall or fence. Peices were every where on the grass, front bumber gone, air bags deployed.

A trooper was coming on the other side and pulled over, guy was ok and walking in one peice saying "Dude Where's My car?!"

Dumb a$$..

It was nice to see over 5 Zs, and the only other groups over 5 were the Vipers and M3s.

All the cars were nice from $5k to $150k.

Will post up later with pictures in a new thread.

Total mileage of 425 miles. 160 miles one way to get there & not worth it at all!

I coudn't make it, and now I'm kinda glad I didn't. Maybe that's what happens when something gets too big.

If z-u-later posts the vid, would it be a good idea to blot the plates?

I had fun. The wreck was bad but it wasnt the end of the world. They arent really kids. The wrx that wrecked works at MZM performance. Ive met the guy he is in his 30;s.Anyways I didnt get to drive my car but It was still a good time. Lots of Z;s and G;s. Finally got to meet tonywenzel and his car is SICK>.. Those vipers where some very agressive drivers. We where behond them for a while till we caught up to a guy on his bike holding up everyone. BOO! Cant wait till the next drive. Ill be out there and ready for the vipers and vettes.

did someone say cadgod can drive? HAHAHAHA. he is a novice when it comes to driving anything other then a straight road or highway..

No reason to waste space here with the [Quote] But Blackwidow was right --- too many cars all together. We pulled out early cuz I was getting bad vibes from the accident and relized there was a potential of a cop swarm and my DL is hangin from a thread as it is.
Positive though ---- A lot of good people and awesome roads and scenery. Got held up once behind a Yellow Taxi and nother time behind a spotter for a Ten Speeder bike dude with a death wish.

Hey BlackWidow,

Over at HillCountryDrives web site you wrote, "Great Job Ryan and the Hill Country Drives Team! Really really good job, it was worth the 425 miles i did (roundtrip) from Sugar Land/Houston TX."

Which one is true?

My Friend the trip was worth the Meet is what i said.

The 90 mile drive with over 50 cars - was not my any means worth the trip! Ask anyone who was looking for a good drive and drove from more then 30 minutes away!

I was talking to some of the guys that organized it, and even they were'nt very happy with such a big turn out of squids in cars, the WRX wrecking was bad enough, but then managing such a big crowd up and down lime creek is not easy.

The objective is to have fun without getting too much unwanted attention!

All i'm saying is, it was worth the meet, meeting good people and seeing nice cars, specially coz we are thinking about opening a Houston Chapter for Sunday Morning Rides.

But As far as the 90 mile drive.. , no...

Hope that clearifys!

Very interesting quotes from you, Black Widow:

Regardless on how you explained your quotes in an earlier post, you have conflicting information. Either you enjoyed it or you didn't. If it's too crowded for you, I suggest stay in Houston so you can help facilitate fixing what you call "too big a crowd to have fun." I am not criticizing you by any means but you're the one who criticized the event so I'm just letting you know my opinion. I think the majority enjoyed the drive. Trust me, Hill Country Drives will not discouraged drivers not to attend their events so they can maintain a small crowd.

I drove from SA so it was worth the over 200 miles (including the drive itself) that I drove, and yes, it was more than a 30 minute drive. For me, it was a great day to enjoy looking at some of the most exotic cars ever built. It's not very often you get to see, hang out and go for a cruise with Vipers, Vettes, NSX, Prowler, Lotuses, Zs, BMWs, etc.

Any large events will have its share of issues but you just have to learn to appreciate that several individuals at least have volunteered their time to get car enthusiasts together for a great time. These individuals took the time to plot the routes, stage the event and more importantly, made it happen.

Here's an email Ryan of Hill Country Drives on the event this weekend:

Well folks, it was fun! We had a few interesting moments, but all in all it wasn’t too shabby of a turn out. We have some different things planned for the group in the upcoming months. Look for a few changes and some really cool events! We had a record turn out this weekend with 74 cars at the starting line.
September drive details will be coming in the next week. Below is a link to the pictures from the event.
Take care,
Ryan

Holly Molly, what part of my statements do you guys not understand? All i said was it worth driving my *** 425 miles (roundtrip) to see nice cars, meet old and new friends, and talk business about opening a Houston Chapter.

But it was NOT worth driving my *** (425 miles) to go for the 90 mile Lime Creek slow climb, thanks to the squidly acts of a WRX, and some Beamers blocking the way, coz they could'nt turn fast enough through the Lime Creek drive.

That's all - now that having said, i probably wont go again for the drive, but if friends go for the meet i'll go with em.

Like i said before, i'll say it again and Brian (Blue Z) can attest to that, we're spirited drivers, and we had more fun getting there (by taking twisties) then on the actual 90 mile Lime Creek drive coz of the traffic.

Now i dont know what type of driving you guys do, but i only do spirited drives when i plan on hitting twisties. While not on twisties, i drive like a Grandma, tryna avg 20 mpg in city!

Hope that helps...

Ryan and I spoke about the ride afterwards. We had been emailing each other back and forth about starting a Houston Eddition. But after going to the ride, I can say that I don't want anything that I create to become something like that. It wasn't anything to do with the driving but more along the lines of how many cars showed up. I had no idea that there were going to be so many cars. Ryan knows my concerns and my opinions. I just had a different idea of what the ride was going to be like. Had I known what I know now, I would not have travelled from Houston to get there. I did it on a whim anyways so no biggy. It is nothing against the guys that put it together. I think they did a heck of a job. It's just not for me. It reminds me of everything related to H-I.

Having been a big part (and still am) of the www.tsba.org, I know a bit about managing group rides and such. Breaking them down into groups and knowing peoples skill levels helps a lot. The trouble that they had on this event is that they don't know most of the people that they are dealing with. People showed up from everywhere with different skill sets or lack there of and you are going to get that on open events such as these.

If I start a Houston group, it will be limited. I am going to setup some bylaws beforehand to make sure things don't get out of hand and everyone can have fun. But no matter what you do, you have to remember that you cannot please everyone. People will say "those guys are crazy", "those guys go too slow", "those guys go too fast", "there were too many people", etc, etc...

What I want to do is get a group of like minded individuals together to have some fun on a regular basis. If you guys only knew what the TSBA is like, you would understand. We have regular rides on a regular basis and we all know each other.
