Hill Country Drives

I just had a different idea of what the ride was going to be like. Had I known what I know now, I would not have travelled from Houston to get there. I did it on a whim anyways so no biggy. It is nothing against the guys that put it together. I think they did a heck of a job. It's just not for me. It reminds me of everything related to H-I.
Having been a big part (and still am) of the www.tsba.org, I know a bit about managing group rides and such. Breaking them down into groups and knowing peoples skill levels helps a lot. The trouble that they had on this event is that they don't know most of the people that they are dealing with. People showed up from everywhere with different skill sets or lack there of and you are going to get that on open events such as these.
If I start a Houston group, it will be limited. I am going to setup some bylaws beforehand to make sure things don't get out of hand and everyone can have fun. But no matter what you do, you have to remember that you cannot please everyone. People will say "those guys are crazy", "those guys go too slow", "those guys go too fast", "there were too many people", etc, etc...
What I want to do is get a group of like minded individuals together to have some fun on a regular basis. If you guys only knew what the TSBA is like, you would understand. We have regular rides on a regular basis and we all know each other.

On a better note Brian - i've already got some guys with an EVO and s2000 that are willing to abide by our rules and willing to do SMRs...
will keep you updated on that, i'm gonna be posting it pretty soon on this website as well (maybe), but will keep you updated...
I was happy many of you got to come up. Sorry about the number of cars, and sorry for some of the wierd delays. We never stay on Lime Creek for that long. I was glad to meet Z_U_Later and his son. I regret not introducing myself to the others that came, I can be timid sometimes. 2 wheels really Z? Wow I don't remember that, but I do remember hitting it once we got into the straight areas of Lime Creek. I did post at HCD about the 2 beemers, it seems ever since they have gotten wind of the drives the skill level or worse the lack of good decisions seems to have put a pall over the event. I don't think I will be going back. I may get together with YoungTurk 'shh don't tell him' and put together some fun drives. I even like some of the ones interspersed in the fields SouthEast of here. There is some really pretty ranchland that way. It will have to wait until after October though. Glad everyone got home OK.

Hey Cadgod, you probably pissed off the Mods after you posted your comments on those two BMWs that passed us up on two solid yellow lines going up the hill. Those two were idiots anyway -- they probably did not want to be behind a couple of Zs.
BTW, I have a couple of vids I want to post but can't find any sites that are not banned here at work. Does anyone know of any free sites where I can posts some vids? I have one where we open it up on Lime Creek, night ride with the three/four Vipers and one with that lone biker rider.

Yeah it was just there earlier...now it is gone. I think after talking to Ryan after the drive, HCD team had some things to talk about. He stated that there needed to be some changes made. Maybe they are taking all that happened in and making the necessary changes.

I had a great time though I was in the first pack of cars and I didn't have to deal with the delays or wreckage. I was behind M3GAN in the M3 and I simply could not keep up with her. We were also following an M5 which was doing well keeping up with an Elise. The first group had a solid run down lime creek with only 2 interferences which were nice enough to pull over out of the way. I'll be there next month for sure.

Thanks, bdmpastx. The 1st site is banned from my work so I'll try to post the vids on the Google site tonight.
Hey Tony, what color was your Z? You must have been in front of us (I was trailing Cadgod in his red Z). We were probably in the rear part of the front pack since we had a good run on Lime Creek all the way to the 1st linkup point. Like you, we were only slowed down a couple times (held up once by the bicycle rider with a death wish, and the other time, a pickup truck pulling a boat!!!).
Like Arnold said, "I BE BACK!"

Not true . . . I just went to the HCD site and viewed the information without logging in as a registered user. I believe you have to be a registered user to post but not to browse the site.
