Default Went to the Track Tonight.....

Well, I feel pleased with the results considering the following factors. I do not have bottle heaters and the pressure was at 875(a little low)Outside temp was 62; I'm thinking I was not getting the full 100 shot. Plus I ran on my 19" heavy a$$ tires but here are my times......Having trouble figuring out the scanner.....lol

60ft - 2.08
330ft - 5.63
1/8 - 8.50@86.44
1000 - 10.95
1/4 - 13.04@109.76

The track is in Marion, San Antonio Raceway. From the Northeast side of SAT take 1604 to I-10 East, go 10 miles or so on I-10E to Santa Ciara( I believe that's what it's called...exit 586) Get off the exit and go over the overpass then bear left, the track is 100 yards on your right. Every Wednesday and Friday night from 6:30-11:00pm is test and tune....open runs $15

Never ran at the track in my life but would like to, I think-LOL. Used to hang out at Houston International Speedway on I-45s when I was a teenager.

How many gears do you go through?
What would you expect a stocker 06 - 6-speed to do by a driver that knew what he/she was doing?

TIA

Thanks guys. I've never done this but by watching it seems to be how well you start?

I remember a volkswagon dealer here in Houston back in the sixties, Mel Crone. He had a beetle with a porche engine that would beat Vettes in the 1/4 LOL. Also remember the lil Red Wagon, Hurst Hemi Under Glass, Green Monster and Gene Snow. Those were the good ole days I guess. We'd buy a case of Schlitz and hide it in a field and then go to the drags and get drunk on hot beer-lol

Mid to high 13s sounds about right But I see a lot of like 14.0-14.2. Don't know why? But like you said "with a good driver."

How about you go to the track and you tell us?

But I'll tell you anyway, since I'm nice. If you have the non-rev up engine, your 4th gear tops out at 111 and 118 for rev-up engines. Since your Z's stock, realistically, you'll be doing low 14s and be in 4th when you finish the 1/4 mile. If you're a fast learner and you learn to launch, you'll be doing lower 14s and high 13s. Those mid to high 13s that people claim are just one of the few lucky ones who happened to have everything perfect at the time, i.e., temperature, elevation, launch, shifting, humidity, etc. In Texas, the climate kills our time. Hope this helped.

Many Thanks. I'll have to try this someday soon....
