Default so, who is up for a Vortech install? :D

I need to learn how to work on my car so I would love to help and watch someone install my vortech tuner kit. Fuel pump, injectors with clips already soldered/wired, oil pan spacer and a Vortech Tuner kit. If any locals would like to give me a hand or two or three. I'll buy pizza, beer, liquor or whatever else thats needed to fuel this project. LMK fellas!

Thanks!

-Jason

oh yeah, working on a getting some sort of base utec map so i can at least limp her home and then to a shop for tuning.

...When/why did you get a SC? Don't tell me this is because of the track day.. I'd love to see a SC run down the 1/4, though. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

Well, as long as you're happy with your purchase, everything is good. And I'm flattered you consider me a "good driver," so thanks for the compliment. Hopefully, I get to see this newly SC'd Z before the next track day (estimated to be sometime in March or April).

I'll chip in moral support...good luck! It is really a very easy install - just time consuming.

why are you giving away those parts? Do they not work with the s/c, because I have the pulleys and hfc and was thinking of going with the vortech.

The pulley, if it is an underdrive pulley, will have to go. Using it will underdrive the S/C as well and you will loose boost. The HFCs are OK.

FYI - Unorthodox Racing does make a lightweight pulley that is the same diameter as the stock one which you can use ith the Vortech kit. I would also suggest that if you get a OE diameter pulley, that you go with UR. Stay away from CNR and KJR pullies since there have been alot of reports of their pullies causing leaks.

just got my utec, it hasnt been installed. from what ive been told, once i have the kit installed, i should be able to drive safely without a tune. its just gonna run like a turd cause the car will be running pig rich. once i have the install done, i'll take it to a shop to get it dyno tuned. no ss box. from reading the manual, it seems like a pretty easy install for someone who is competant work on a car. im trying to make everything as easy as possible. even got plug and play injector harnesses so there wont be any wiring or soldering involved. even the oil pan spacer i purchased already has a pretap for the vortech oil lines. bolt her up and she should be drivable.

Too bad you're not in Houston; I'd help out for some cats.

Hey Jason,

Could you, if you don't mind, post a parts list. That you put together for the Vortech. I am looking at the same kit.

Thanks

Chris
