Default Advice - 350Z Short Shifter

Thinking about getting a short shifter for my 350Z in hopes of being able to shift faster/easier. I've seen 2 on the web at Stillen and I believe a b&m<-- not sure if that's right.

Any one else done this and what would you reccomend.

Thanks

I had the B&M STS for 2 years. I will admit the shifts are great and precise. But, the vibration/rattle at 5000+ RPM can get annoying. I remember hearing talk about "Rogue" shifters. I don't think they're made anymore. But supposedly it didn't make much noise.

I have been looking into this shifter, http://www.mynismo.com/products/?id=2789 but have not found any feedback

The stock sifter is already short, its the fat-*** factory **** that messes it up
I would get rid of the stock **** and replace it with a Nismo or better yet if Sharif at Forged Performance still makes shift ***** get one of those. A new small top heavy **** will give you very easy shifting, and shorter "feeling" throws.

I go auto-crossing/road course racing a lot and with a my FP **** can just flick the **** into any gear, far easier and better then when I drove a Z with a short shifter kit.

Try the **** first

+1 on comments that the stock shifter already has a short throw.
Keep in mind though, that some people like to have the shifter longer and close to the 3 o'clock position of the wheel, so they can get to the stick fast. Also, while a short shifter keeps the throw short, it increases shifting effort.

Thats the one!!!!!111!!!
The stock shifter is big and light, this one is small and rather heavy so it may take a bit getting used to. At first I couldnt find my gears quickly and sometimes my hand would slip off. Give it a few days and you'll shifting like a pro. I can flick the shifter exactly where I want it, quickly and with little effort now-- makes a big difference on the track and even daily driving.

Get the forged performance over anything else, I have had every Nismo model and none compare. Its true what the site says "those have have felt this shift **** can attest to the fact: It just feels PERFECT!"

Its worth the price, I actually paid $120 over a 1.5 years ago when they were in proto-type stage, you wont understand how bad the stock **** is until you get this one

BTW I dont have any connections with the company, I just like that much

Thanks Man, and I know you don't have any connection. I too will praise a product that I believe in.

Again, thanks to you and all the replies from the good Z Peoples out there. Seems like there were responces from all over this great planet!

I only hope there is something I can do someday to repy all the people who have tried to help me; here and else where.

3 5 0, I'm not going to jump in on any thread about racing at Texas MotorPlex anymore since I let you guys down twice, but I'm gonna surprise you guys by just showning up, ready to race!

I've got the Forged Performance shift and it's phenominal. I'm also using the Nismo short shifter which I highly reccomend. No noise, totally adjustable and my shifts are unbelievably precise!!!

I like how you have a message to me even before I even saw the thread. Maybe you knew I'd read it..?

Anyway, I personally don't recommend getting a short shifter as I, too, have heard the negatives about them (search for more info). Plus, I don't really see it really helping you on the track. If you aren't shifting fast enough, perhaps you just need to work out your right triceps, back, and chest (maybe the left leg also).

BTW, the last drag race day (last Friday) was a great one. 4 people got a new PB, including me (see my sig and thread for others).

I saw the times. Congrats to all.
