Default placing my order for a new car next month... need some advice.

so i will be placing an order for an 07 enthusiast with no options next month. i want the car off the truck parked with no one test driving (beating the hell out of the car i buy) or anything. the dealer told me they would sell me the car for a few hundred over invoice when i went in and told them what i was willing to pay for the car.

here is the advice i need from you guys. i am not going to be ready to actually purchase and start making payments for the car till septemer which is when the car is suppose to come in... i have a tenative start date with a new employer at that point and my wages will pretty much double so its time for a new car. funny how the timing all lined up.

i am having to order the 07 next month because the dealer said that is the last month they will be able to order an 07. after that its pretty much 08s and i dont want an 08.

what should i put down as a deposit on the car? should i put down what the dealer asks for, or is there a standard percentage that i should put down?

next, is this a deposit where the dealer actually cashes my check, or do they just "hold on to it" until the car actually gets here? i purchased an 01 subaru impreza with the second method mentioned... they had to get a car from another dealer far away and i put down a deposit where they never actually cashed that check.

lastly, when my car gets here and there is something wrong with the car, or i somehow get a better deal with a car somewhere else, or i decide not to purchase at this dealer, in texas is my deposit refundable if the check is actually cashed?

TIA for all your help guys.

Your questions can be better answered by a dealer.
Give Big Al a call at Gunn Nissan in San Antonio. 210-496-0806
He'll give you the low down.
