Call John or Wayne at D&M Service Center in Universal City. Their phone # is 210-658-2583. They did the 3.3 FD to 3.5 FD pumpkin swap for me last year. Whoever quoted you $475 is ripping you off. If I recall, it only took them about a couple of hours to install mine. It should only be about $120-$150.

Any noob can do a pumpkin swap in the parking lot. Even the Nissan dealer is scared to install gears.

Hey newb . . . what's your point!? If you're stating "any noob" can do it, why'd you suggest for him to call a shop in Austin then? OP is asking for someone to install it for him so I posted my recommendation to help him out. Maybe he doesn't have the tools and/or the time to do it himself. Why don't you offer your services if you're such an expert? Otherwise, STFU if you don't have anything useful to post!

Installing a complete diff. is a simple bolt on. Installing gears into the diff. requires special tools. Shimming the ring gear carrier, getting exactly the right print on the gear face. If they need a shim they'll have to order it. Possibly from Japan. Arrange for other transportation just in case. OP Do you have the pinion seal and crush washer, or just the gears? You'll need those. 475$ is ok, this is a very technical job that most shops can't handle. I've done complete diff. swaps many times. IT'S NOT THE SAME THING

Exactly my point. Good luck. Mine didn't need shims, but it's a possibility.

yea i know bob (eazzzzy) but since he lives pretty far from me i rather just drop it off at alamo and let them take care of whatever else they need instead of driving back and forth since i will probably be busy during the day.
