Default May be relocating to Irving area

Hey fellow My350Z members,

My company is offering 15 positions in our Irving office. I may be applying. If offered the position, where would be a nice place to look for an apartment? I've never been to Texas, so I have no idea where to look. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken.

where exactly is your office? i would suggest getting an apartment locator. they're free and very effective. i can refer you to mine if you want. you just tell her what you want and how much you want to spend and she sends you an email with the places that match. it was really easy to find a place after that.

there is no shortage of apartments in irving. they're are a ton along MacArthur. between 183 and just north of 635 to valley ranch.

whatever you do stay north of 183. the more north the better. Las colinas is a nice area, but it is 95% indian from india on work visas. all married with kids in grade school. i kid you not. i lived at rancho mirage. great complex, very quiet, a couple of incidents, but all indian.

there's a huge shopping center between 161 and 635 on MacArthur also. anything and everything you will need, groceries, tons of restaurants, target, wal-mart, etc...

The address is 6000 Las Colinas Boulevard. I work for at&t.

Good information so far, thanks. I am submitting my application for the position today. I don't know when I will hear back. Once I do and if I get the position, I would be interested in that apartment hunter that you mention. Thanks again!

Thanks for the replies. It looks like Valley Ranch is the place to look.

Can anyone shed some light on the lifestyle differences I can expect coming from NJ?

Culture shock!! nah, j/k... honestly peops that I know that moved here from up north love it, and I also know folks who moved from here to northeast...and they love it.. So if you have been there long enough (ie: Born and raised) then I think you will totally dig it.

other than that - you will run into tons of cowboy/maverick fans. And there really wouldnt be a lifestyle difference because more than likely you will get involved in the same interests here as you did back home..

there are several car meets every week, and Im sure you will be more settled in once you get used to everyone not being so rude (thats more NY though)

Good luck -

they are all right. valley ranch is the shit. i used to live in villa miranda luxury apts...very nice, right off 635 and macarthur. when i finish dental school next may, my plan is to buy a house here in valley ranch.

Definitely stay in the las colinas or valley ranch area. unless you're interested in living in the ghetto, stay as far away from the 183 hwy area as possible.

I think you'll like it around here. the area is definitely developing....also lol lots of indians, but the area is very clean, and the location is ideal as you have ft. worth to the west and dallas to the east.

give me a shout if you have any questions man

I'm too am thinking of relocating and I have a question. What is the average cost of an apartment in the las colinas or valley ranch area? I would like to live in a comfortable area with good parking but I'm not looking for top of the line either.

i have a house in valley ranch its a nice area. i've come from some not so nice areas of arlington, up to the college-dorm-like atmosphere of austin ranch in the colony, to valley ranch, which i think is a much more tame down to earth area.
