Default Under the Gas Pedal

So I was cleaning & detailing the interior of my Z & ended up on my back on the drivers side looking at the Gas Pedal.

What the hell is that big A$$ thing under the gas pedal ? I feel under it and then grab a flash light to start to examine it. ???????

Well there is a huge " U " shaped brace under the pedal that stands out from the bottom of the pedal and will hit the floor board of the cabin. But its like over 2" long !

Whats the deal with that ? Anyone cut it down and see if they can get more throttle out of the engine from it ? Or does it act like a Govenor ?

Any experimentation ?

no its extra support for the pedal so people dont brake it most cars have some form of it remember 350z has drive by wire so theres no throttle cable.

I guess my curiousity is that...why don't they just make the pedal go all the way to the floor, or at least close to it ?

It seems like there is some restriction in the amount of accerlation if that is there. If you stand on it it seems like you'd be able to accelerate just a bit quicker.

Kind of like the " Spinal Tap " theory ! You know ??? This one goes to 11!

Z cars are limited by governor from the factory, approx 156mph. This is just a mounting point as the above response says we have drive by wire

well unless your FI your speed limiter is fine because it will take you a good while to hit 156mph N/A. The only way i know of to get rid of it is to get some kind of piggy back or ecu re-flash that gets rid of the limiter.

How do you piggy back or re-flash the ECU ? I'm looking for a posted thread on this & didn't come up with anything.

you will only need a piggy back computer (controller) on FI Z cars, really no need if your Z car is not FI. As for flashing your ECU there are posts on this site where you can send your ECU overnight express to Japan and they will relash at a cost for you. This will keep you from driving your Z for at least a week and the reflash may cause other problems, check out this thread...
