Cold weather in DFW (or Texas in general) And Transmission issues...
As you all know it's been getting chilly in Texas, particularly the DFW area. Recently, I've been getting a whining noise from what seems like my tranny after my car sits overnight. On cold mornings for about 5-10 minutes I get a whine that increases with the RPMS and goes away after my car warms up. Also, with these cold starts, I find a lot more resistance when trying to go to 2nd gear. We're thinking Pilot Bushing, but after searching older threads it could also be my Throwout Bearing...
There is a thread about this type of issue going on right now in the Maintenance and Repair section, but I wanted to see if any Texas Z owners are seeing this too since we just now started our "Fall" weather.
Another concern is that I live in Duncanville (South Dallas), and my nearest dealers are Urban Nissan and Don Davis at Arlington. I've been to Courtesy, I don't think I'm comfortable leaving my car overnight somewhere 25 miles away.... Any suggestions?

I live in Kansas and it's much colder than Texas, but so far havn't have any issue with the tranny yet (knocks on wood). During winter it would sometime get below the freezing point, but the Z still ok

Thanks for the feedback so far guys!
It seemed to whistle less this morning when I warmed it up for about 3-4 mins. I guess you become a hypochondriac for your Z when you read these forums a lot. That or I just REALLY wanted an excuse to put in a new flywheel...heheheh...
Oh, and Texans generally freak out whenever it gets under 40 degrees here. And don't even ask about our ice driving skills (in general)!

I have tried to be "gentle" to my 6spd in the cold. I know it takes awhile to warmup, and once it does it shifts a lot smoother. But I have had my 5th gear grind "only" while downshifting though about 3 times in the last two weeks. I just had a new tranny put in the car about a two months ago.
