Another vote for Valentine. I've had one for five years and it's paid for itself many times over.

My folks live in Colleyville, and I used to work in Dallas so I'm mostly familiar with the mid cities area and 635/121. I see mostly K and Ka on the highways. Watch for bridge trolls with radar on 121, the Farmer's Branch and Grapevine police are VERY active through there.

I've seen laser twice in DFW. Once on 121 near the airport, and another time on Grapevine Hwy. They were picking off people one by one during low traffic. Luckily I wasn't speeding at the time.

BTW - I spoke to customer service at Valentine last week (ordering mounting parts) about the laser issue with the Trailblazer/Bravada vehicles. They claimed there wasn't much they could do about it as the GM vehicles use the same wavelength of light.

I had this crazy idea. Buy Trailblazer 3rd brake light. Mount in front air dam. Make it light up like Knight Rider. Jam police LIDAR.

There is a certain town that ALWAYS has a speed trap b4 reaching Dallas on I-45 Northbound. Slow it down here.

My laser has only gone off twice on my x50... one time was at the parking lot of the hospital and I assume it was a flashing red led from one of the many things there and the other was a cop gunning me down in houston. Other than that I have mainly seen KA in north dallas even though I think garland and McKinney use K band so be careful. Richardson and Plano and KA and x50's and V1's will pick them up (literally) a mile away.

no its not illegal in texas unless its a commercial vehicle... so if its a truck with your company name, 18 wheeler or even a pizza delivery car you can't have it. But for your personal car the detectors are 100% legal... (radar jammers are not legal except for the passive ones which do not work anyway, laser jamers or laser shifters are legal) However I would recommend hiding it if you get pulled over b/c they are just going to hassel with you about it and I would guess you are much more likely to get a ticket over a warning if s/he sees it.

I have gotten 24 tickets before it and 0 after it. I have had it for about a year. I am 24 today. 8 years of driving. It works wonderfully.[/QUOTE]

And you still have a valid driver's license? Amazing, especially at your age. Only in Texas LOL
