Yeah, that's exactly what I've heard. I know I did a hunter's safety test when I was younger and it was basically sitting in a room all day then taking a test. I know it's important to pay attention though, and hopefully it keeps my interest.

As far as what gun I'm using, I don't have one so it's whatever they have at the range. I think there's a few to choose from but I'm hoping I get an XD-9(choices are: 9mm Springfield XD9, Beretta PX4, Sig Sauer SP2022 or a Glock 17 semi-automatic). I shot an XD-M 5.25 about a year ago and liked it. I shot a Sig P239 and it felt too small for me. Shot a Kimber .45 ACP and I didn't like the safety or the kick after enough shots.

Mine was for the CEL being on, and all the codes. I don't have one now, but I don't know if I would pass visual or emissions. I can't remember how invasive they are.

CELs are a given, but most places I've gone to were pretty lax and didn't really bother to actually inspect what they're supposed to.

I'm perfectly legal I just have this low temp thermostat and my inspection is due every year around when it's starting to get cold...my car throws an engine code in cold weather due to "coolant temp being too low" P0128, I can clear it but it'll just come back on the next drive sitting in traffic on my way to work in the mornings

Can you change the thermostat for inspection to pass and then just change back?

Ug. Wonder who snagged them. Sucks.

Ironically I had some fam stuff too, though nothing serious. Just couldn't get to them and then when I texted, poof, gone.

Cars have an optimal temp range; fall anywhere below/above and your car's not at its max potential. Unless you like asking around where to get hooks ups or paying extra to get a $25 inspection sticker, getting a new thermostat is the easiest fix. Plus, if you know it only does it when the weather cools down, why not just prevent all this hassle and get it done a month early? Hell, you can even do it late. They give you up to 2 months of leeway to get it re-inspected. I've been up to 5 months overdue when I was in Chicago, lol.

Also, clearing the code doesn't do anything, except temporarily hide the light. The inspection computers can read if any of the sensor's have been reset recently; in fact, they'll tell you to drive 50 miles then come back so all sensors are fully functioning again.

BTW, cold in TX? LOL, "winter" here is like fall elsewhere.

What real winter looks like:

Abandoned cars on a northern Chicago highway along Lake Michigan after the "thundersnow."
Schools actually closed for the first time since like 1997 there.

I don't know how old those set of GT-7s are, but those might even be one of 3 sets with Z fitment that's been around for longer than most of you guys have been members.

Thanks for the advice! Thermo's treated me well, it's staying in..i'll probably get the code deleted during tuning...aware about the code clearing, been up and down that road, the low temp code goes away after so many miles so it's not a huge inconvenience since i'm driving so much these days..this is just one of those things I deal with to keep the engine somewhat cooler, pretty common issue everyone i know of has with racing thermostats

Ya NISMOFO had a white one at one point.

Why do you need a racing thermostat? Aren't you still NA?

Because racecar, duh! I understand.

Seriously, just get the inspection done a few months late and repeat every year. After 4-5 years, those delayed months turn out to equal a year and you got a free year of driving around with an "un-inspected" vehicle, lawl. Popos only give you citations if you've exceeded 2 months and even if you did, it's still a $10 fix it ticket at most.

Just make sure you don't get pulled over and get a ticket for the inspection being out. You only have 45 days after it's month in Tarrant County. Within the 45 days you can get the ticket dismissed for a $10 court fee, but after that you have to see a certain judge.

I"m with Chris on the GT7s..they are ugly. Eric how bad is your tint? Just roll down your windows..they don't bother rolling them up. Unless you have windshield tint or something.

Racing thermostat..why do you need this? Whats wrong with the stock thermostat that gives your cel code-free.

Be like Jake and disconnect the window motor, and just say it's rarely driven.
