Chris, if you do the LSD Monday I'd love to help out or at least stop by. I'm off that day and I'm trying to make that a day of leisure. I've only driven my Z twice in the last 3 months so I need an excuse to go somewhere in it.
You haven't driven in so long, you need to make up for lost time. How about Chicago?
Chris,
I would love to get back up to Chicago this time of year. It's a really nice city....clean, great landscaping, great food, and lot's to so around Millennium Park.
Eric, get that Z started and take her for a cruise !

Michelle is actually up there right now with her mother and her aunt at some design conference.
Has anyone had any experience with tranny shops in the area? Looking to get a place that knows what they are doing to do my final drive
get it done by a dealer...most tranny shops ive expierienced are idiots...but thats just me in denton BUT thats just me and i work for a nissan dealer so im kinda biased imho the most annoying thing about swapping a diff in a z is getting the exhaust stuff out of the way and pulling off those stiff a$$ hangers

LOL - unbolt the hangers and leave them on the exhaust... with the exhaust off the car, spray some WD-40 and the rubber part slides right off with lil or no effort.. Perhaps you can school some of the techs at the stealership.

Yeah it should be here next week. I'm debating on ordering the install kits or just the individual pieces because I've found some threads that list the parts needed...but when I go to get them online, some of the part numbers are either wrong or the part isn't shown online?
And this will be more than just swapping pumpkins, it's getting inside and switching the gear and pinion

I've always just sprayed them with wd40 and used a flat head screw driver to take them off.

What is the Final Drive gonna be ? And are you swapping pumkins or replacing gears in existing ?
You should do the Solid diff bushings & get get a finned Diff cover while your doing all of it at once.
I found a fantastic deal on tomei 3.9 gears with the tomei 2 way LSD the other day. Just don't have the money for it right now. It's like $1500 for everything then another $265 for the bearing kit.

yea setting backlash is a little more tricky...you mess it up and you desroy the bearings and eat at your sparkly new ring gear...when i swapped over my ring and pinion and diff into an s15 case i had a spare diff to "measure" backlash with, i just did it by hand and made note of how much i could move the pinion flange, but it all worked out, i havent gone into a z diff yet though as im happy with my vlsd for now, but ive got a spare open one id like to possibly weld for some fun times
