Default Went To Austin Yesterday...

Went up to Austin yesterday with a buddy to drop off his S/C Viper at American Racing Tech; http://www.americanracingtech.com/. While we were there I went ahead and put the Z on thier DynoJet. Since I was over-boosting (I need to build my motor ) we only took it to 6500rpms. Pull were in 4th gear and sadly didn't get a good torque reading. However did pull a 438.84whp.

What turbo setup are you running? Did you just slap on a kit or are you working with other mods as well?

Hmm, this is apparently sarcasm. For someone that doesn't know any better, which system is considered to be best?

From what I've read the JWT is most like an OEM type of setup. (does this mean it's better for running on a stock motor?)

I don't spend much time in the FI forum because I'm not boosted and don't care to bother everyone with noob questions. But since I missed the obvious things here I thought I'd ask.

Gotcha.

Robert,

How long have you been boosting on the stock motor? From the little bit I've read in the FI forum there is only a longevity issue when overboosting. Also, the connecting rods are the only real weakpoint in the VQ motor up to about 500hp. Is this correct? Could you have a good tune and run your 438hp for quite awhile?

Been TTed since March '08. Longevity is based on tuned and use. Rule of thumb is 10lbs of boost for the stock block/internals.

Sounds good. I keep hearing around 8psi is safe for the stock motor. That's with it being tuned correctly of course. With a TT setup you can get plenty of power with 8-10psi and I would imagine everything should last a good while.
