I keep mine under my passenger side floor mat. That way if I ever do get pulled over for it, I tell them I am waiting for the bracket to come in at the dealer. Hopefully this will work.

Tonywenzel,

Sorry bud, that trick doesn't work anymore unless your a blonde with C cups.

The plate has to be mounted on the front bumper, so sorry to you guys mounting them on your visor or dashboard.

All cops are not created equal, meaning not all of us are dicks.
If you give attitude when you get pulled over, you bet your azz your getting a ticket. I agree the mounting of the front plate for some cars is ugly, such as the Z or a Vette. If your not drag racing or doing something stupid don't worry about getting a citation for minor things. Drive safe!

For you guys that just got the ticket for no front plate:

Take a polaroid of your plate mounted and then take that picture to the courthouse and it will get dismissed.

Strictly Z.com has a front plate holder that uses the front tow hook to mount the plate instead of drilling on the front bumper.

Default I posted this in the other thread also....

http://www.petitiononline.com/txplate/petition.html

Everyone must sign this. Help do away with the defacing of such beautiful cars

BTW, I live in Austin, and a DPS trooper pulled me over for going 5 over the spd limit (even though I was slowing down for the redlight in front of me). He also gave me the "no front license plate" ticket which I have heard so much about. The cop seemed to be a real d!ck ( and I gave him no attitude...just answered the questions he asked) so I think that was his rationale. The fine in Travis county is only $10, but with court fees ($50 something) and handling fees ($17 or so) it ends up being like a $75 ticket (no option for dismissal). A co-worker heard something on the radio this morning about TX abolishing the law, so we will see.

lol, I got pulled over after having my car for maybe 2 weeks for no front bumper. It was total ********. I just came out of the walmart parking lot and pulled up to a stop light, and this cop pulls up next to my car after I had been sitting there for a sec, no chance of me doing anything to **** this guy off. He slowly inched forward at the light, and I was like what the hell is this guy doing? The light turned green and I started to go, and he sat there until I had gone far enough for him to pull behind me and pull me over. I still had the DAMN dealer tags on it for christ's sake. This guy gave me a ticket for it, what an ***. This was Dallas Police if anyone cares, and no I didnt have an attitude with him. Get this, after he pulled me over, a second cop came in to block me in too, for what reason I have no clue.
I had my Firebird for 2 years before someone pulled me over for no plate, and that was a state trooper. I got 4 warnings for the front license plate, but no tickets in the time I had that car...

We only had the Redline for about 3 weeks when an Arlington pc. of crap pig pulled my wife over for no front plate and get this!!!!!!!!!!! a second ticket for the Z license frame on the back. And I checked the law and the bastards can give you a ticket Here in good Ole Texas for a frame that covers the plates theme. In this case the Z license frame covered the words "the lone star state". It's a ******** law

Yep they are strictly enforcing this, I think its petty but they ahve the right to cite if you are covering up the word Texas or any other state with a license plate holder.

And guess what they even cite you if its on the front or back.

GHEY!

yea the frame has to cover words on the plate... my custom plates don't have that theme on them so my frame doesn't cover anything up... even though my co workers tell me at least once a week the frame is illegal...

If the cop wants to be a dick, he can get you for all kinds of things. I went to court March 3rd for get this:
-no front licence plate
-wrong address on my driver's licence ( it was going to expire in 2 weeks at the time and i had just moved to my new apt)
-DVD player in reach of the driver
-following too close to the vehicle infront of me going 70/70 (thats 70 in a 70)

All this from a State Trooper as I was driving through Rockwall on my way back from Shreveport. On top of the tickets, I was searched, my car was searched, my friend was searched, and I was asked and I quote "Do you have any large sums of money or narcotics in your posession?"

Needless to say all tickets were dismissed but it was a waste of time and $$ for a lawyer.

Exactly... a co-workers brother in law i know is a police and he said if anyone busts you for front plate they were either new or they were going to pull you over for something else anyway... he said 9 out of 10 cars on the road fail something the officer can pull you over for. And if all else fails they can pull you over b/c they "didn't see" you use your turn signal. He left the impression that police don't mine you not running a front plate b/c it gives them an easy excuse to pull you over whenever they feel like it. If they busted everyone for not having that plate then that would mean they need more legitamate reasons for pulling you over which means it makes their job that much harder...

also think about shortning that sig buddy.

yea i would never try that "trick"... It just makes it more obvious your not running the front plate and shows a lot of disrepesct like you think you can trick the police... If I ever get pulled over in the Z its going to be interior lights on hands on the wheel and "yes sir" "no sir"... And if he gets me for not having the front plate then I will just have to put it on... so far no problems.

Try and go easy on the Z's in houston w/ no front plates... but if they start acting like a jerk throw the book at them

Got pulled over in Sugar Land, TX for not having a front plate. I got a warning, so I ordered the zee-bracket. It doesn't look too bad. Much better than the license plate on the bumper, and no more police problems. At least not for the missing front plate.

[QUOTE=chaparro78]On topic of the tickets, I was searched, my car was searched, my friend was searched, and I was asked and I quote "Do you have any large sums of money or narcotics in your posession?"[QUOTE]

Next time the officer ask to search you or your vehicle tell him "no" don't give him a reason. But don't be rude about it either if he ask why not say you don't have time. An officer can not search you or your vehicle with out a warrant from a judge. or extinuating circumstances. He can how ever pat you down but only for weapons. If he pulls a bag of weed out of you pocket by law they can not charge you with possesion, but with the "War on Drugs" no judge is going to let you off. Everyone needs to know their rights.

Warning: If you do tell the officer no to searches. By law he can hold you there for three hours. It will probably take less time for him to search you and your car.
