like most cars the factory intake makes just as good if not better numbers than aftermarket... imo aftermarket intakes are for looks

https://my350z.com/forum/na-builds/3...g35-coupe.html

if you really want power choose the NA or FI route and then buy mods that will contribute to the decision(good luck if you choose NA, both are expensive but turbo numbers get higher easier)

  • ARP rod bolts. Your bottom end will be good to 7500 RPM easily.
  • OEM HR head gaskets (better coolant routing) and head bolts (higher tensile strength) documented here: http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/wol...HEAD_BOLTS.pdf
  • OEM HR valve springs with an extra 1mm valve spring seat to increase seat pressure. This setup has been tested to 8k (with JWT S1 cams @ 10.9mm lift) with no valve float in a VQ30 (which has heavier valvetrain components). Actually perform better than nismo and JWT springs (offers more spring pressure at mid-high valve lift). Probably the best performing single spring setup availabe for the VQ that you've never heard of.
  • Stock main cap bolts are sufficient
  • OEM HR pistons (in a DE block will increase compression to about 11:5:1) They need to be slightly modified to clear the quench pads but that's no biggie. Documented here http://forums.maxima.org/all-motor/5...hout-mods.html
  • OEM bearings (meh...would suggest ACL but not totally necessary I suppose)
  • Concerning a valve job.....some valve jobs can actually be worse than factory. On top of that, the valve lash will need to be reset; usually done by grinding the tips. Extra expense you might not want.
  • Revup oil pump for peace of mind (not any more effective/efficient than the non-revup...inner gear is just stronger) You can probably leave this off the list as well but hey, if the motor is already apart...
This setup should be dead reliable up to 7500 RPM. Beyond that you might run into bottom end balance issues. That's all I can think of at the moment. Taking a break from studying lol.

Cold airs usually lose power but short rams are good.

Dude, TP's are making my Injen SES sound like chit the closer i get to WOT.

Fix is on the way via UPS... Magnaflow resonated True "X" pipe that will be welded into the area where the twin resonators are now on the SES. (those will be cut out)

Unfortunetly with a true dual, my Z sounds like 2 angry 3 cylinders. This "X" pipe will even out the rough idle, give me more low-end torque, and take away alot of the rasp and high pitchiness at WOT.

The Stillen with test pipes wasn't too bad. Rocking stock with test pipes now until I can afford the exhaust I want.

Nice! How's the cost of living around there? My cousin lives around Bellaire area and I'll probably stay there for a few months to get on my feet first. I don't want to rush into finding an apartment like I did with LSU. I did it all in one weekend and wasn't all that happy with the results

Cost of living is great, its pretty damn low. Not much different than BR.

Bellaire area is a pretty nice area, big Jewish community there for some reason. Only bad thing about Htown is the work traffic...its horrible in the morning and afternoon.

My commute is about 26 miles, and it takes me about 1 hour 10 min to get to work.

Not bad. BR cost of living is RIDICULOUS and it's not even like there is anything special about it aside from LSU.

The hours aren't too bad, it's like 8:30AM-5PM which I'm sure after I get off of work I'll just go to the gym or something so I don't have to sit in traffic. My commute to work now is like 20 miles and takes like 25 minutes. When I lived off of Nicholson I lived <15 miles away and it took me <15 minutes to get there. Damn you BR and all of your ridiculously placed red lights lol
