Default Getting ready for the track/Brake job help

I'm going out to Eagles Canyon on Saturday, but in the next 36 hours I need to change brake pads, brake lines and fluid. Thanks to CrzyDave for the Carbotechs.

Anybody have any tricks for changing the HR pads? What about a power bleeder I can borrow?

All the DIY info is for 03-05 cars. I've changed pads and rotors on my 240sx, but it has been a few years. The main thing I am worried about is getting the caliper off, because I'm sure the bolts will be a pain in the a$$.

If anybody wants to help out I'll be doing the work in Trophy Club tomorrow evening. I'll provide beer to anybody with skilled hands.

Thanks for the help.

Changing the pads is easy. There are two bolts per caliper that you pull out and the top part of the caliper comes off. Switch out the pads, push the pistons back in (pain in the butt) and bolt it back together. I transfered the shims on the stock pads to the carbotechs. If you have the right tools, it takes about 15 min per wheel.

Thanks Dave. I've got all the tools. I should be able to do it, I just won't know 'til I try. I may be getting in to the DFW area earlier than I expected. I'll call you whenever I leave Oklahoma to set up the time.

OK. So I need to have a little more confidence in my mechanical skills. Changing the brakes, lines and fluid turned out to be fairly easy. It was messy, but I got it done in a little over four hours.

As for my impressions of the Z on track. I loved it. The brake cooling ducts and carbotechs allowed me to have four fade free sessions at Eagles Canyon, which is hard on brakes. The Z did everything I wanted it to. I just need some NT05s or something similar to squeeze every last millisecond out of the stock setup.

Thanks Dave for the pads. I talked to my friends and we're going to do MSR Houston with The Driver's Edge in April and Motorsport Ranch in May. Maybe I'll see you out there.
