A good deal (Second car)
Hey everyone,
I know this is an 'other vehicles' question, but for some reason I value my fellow Texans' opinions more than others.
So here it is:
I am looking into buying a second car (beater) to drive to work (66 miles roundtrip, 5 days a week). I really don't want to spend much since I'll drive whatever I get into the ground. A friend of mine has a 95' Prelude that he's trying to get rid of since he's moving to Cali. He said I could just pay off what he owes, about $1500 and have it. He drove it pretty hard, but probably easier than I am on my cars, and it's just been sitting around for about a year since he bought another car. I think it's in pretty good shape mechanically, I don't want to comment on the physical appearance (CF hood, dropped, body kit...) because it's not my style.
Anyways, does this sound like a good deal or does anyone think I can do better for under $2000?
Thanks in advance.

More people moving to Cali.... NOOOOO!
Well if 1500 is a drop in the bucket for you, go for it. I would. Nothing beats having a beater for those times when you know you will worry about your primary car. Plus the concerns of additional mileage, frequency of maintenance schedules, etc. I'm in the midst of restoring my beater... and then I'll be able to go shopping and park at the very front of a store if I want to.

The above is so as long as it works well.

95 Prelude for that price is a DEAAAAAAAAAL. I sold my beater 91 Integra w/ fresh B16A swap for $4200 if that gives you any idea of the deal you're getting on the Prelude.
Thanks for the replies, I'm gonna do it! He's taking it into a shop to make sure everything looks good first, then I should have it within a couple weeks. It only has 99k miles. I'll post a pic when I get it.
