Default [AUS] SUNDAY drive (5/2)

well, seeing as how it was rainy and gross last sunday...i say we reschedule for this sunday. from what i understand, it's supposed to be stellar weather and my car is itching to stretch her legs.

soooo same plan as last time:

-meet at smokey j's (2222 and 620) at 10am.
-hill country drive (back bone perhaps?)
-chris s leads

the pace will be quick, but more than likely not neck-breaking. as always, drive within your comfort zone. the faster guys will always wait for the more moderately paceds fellas

is this kosher with everyone? if not, i'm officially labeling you all big fat wusses who think the s2k guys are better drivers.

so, come one, come all. it'd be really cool to meet more austinites and have a strong z showing.
but please invite as many (relatively responsable) drivers as yall would like

Yes, it is.

My suggestion is to look up Smokey J's and use a map service to get directions, I'll be using my nav.

Has that nav made you directionally challenged. Pretty lame if you can't find 4 corners in your sleep after living in Austin all these years!

Yeah yeah, I just never knew that was Smokey J's. It was always referred to as "the barbecue place" in the gas station at four corners.

See you all there. I think we might be able to convince Chris to come. I'll be calling him at about 9am to try and convince him it's too cold to ride his bike.

9am: 55?, feels like 52?

http://www.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/78726

it's a bit nipply. i was out tonight, and had my liner, a fleece and a shirt on. i was still a bit chilly. it was saying that the temps were the same tonight as they were supposed to be in the morning.

heh, nice try.

Well, it was a black Z's vs white EVO8 battle. Pretty fun, albeit not real long.

My car wallows through Devil's Backbone with added traction...I need suspension mods now after that drive.

Who won, the EVO or a Z?

Megan, you're right, it was a bit nipply, esp. w/ a fully perf'd Vanson jacket...but I just had to see what the Tuono was like in the twisties (answer: a very comfortable RC51).

We just took a few random roads, then headed back down 12 to 290 and went and ate at Shady Grove.

Nobody won Chris. I was just referring to how it was funny seeing 3 black 350s with this completely opposite color, white, EVO8 duking it out with us in the twisties.

I'm probably going to break down and go to SoulSpeed this week and get my alignment fixed. Hopefully they can set the rear camber to the max to fix the rear camber problem (small adjustability from the factory). Then fixing my toe out should make the car not so darty. I was having a bit of trouble with the car wanting to turn in way too easily. The toe out correction should help in that regard, so I am hopefuly my alignment will be money well spent.
