Whoa...
don't wanna be a poo-poo head, but are you sure that the Dave & Buster's Parking Lot is gonna be big enough?

If we have a fairly decent turnout, I don't think it will be large enough...especially on a Saturday, with all the people that go to D & B's

zcardave, since you have experience organizing events, where do you think would the best place to have one?

Oh man,
me and my big mouth ......

Don't want anyone to think I'm trying to take over this event.
I'm looking forward to being just a participant for a change.
But...
I do want this event to be the best it can be....thus my response about not using Dave & Buster's.

What kind of number are you guesstimating, showing up for this event? The weather is going to be perfect, so figure on the high side.

Are we going to go anywhere en'mass?
The logistics of moving a bunch of cars down Westheimer can be a nightmare.
Maps would be a good idea, and an itenerary.

Or...
are you just planning on showing up and figuring it out from there?
Just wanting to help,

IMO if you are wanting to cruise to Galveston, I wouldn't have the meet in the Galleria area. Like Dave said, sometimes Westheimer is a nightmare with one car much less 20 or 30. Wish I had an idea of where to have it.

Actually, there is a huge parking lot on the northwestish (if that is even a word) side of town that would be big enough. For you locals, it is across the street from Willowbrook mall. There are plenty of places to eat around there. The reason I say this parking lot will work is because the buisness is closed down and the parking lot is always empty. Plus there is a Hooters within walking distance!

Question

If a Galveston cruise is in the works, then one of the better places to meet is at the Hooters off 45 South, and Nasa Rd. 1. They have a large parking lot between the Burlington Coat Factory and Hooters, and it's only about 30 mins max away from Galveston.

I think your 20-30 car figure is running fairly conservative.
I'm thinking more like 40+ if the weather is decent.

Tru...
your idea for the empty parking lot is a good one.
I'm not that familiar with that area, but it sounds good.
You say the business is closed...what was it?
Now we have to worry about the police. If the business is closed, this is usually considered trespassing.

How about we park at Willowbrook Mall? You could check with the manager of the mall, or the security folks to make sure it would be alright.
Usually, when the Z Club of Houston meets somewhere like this, it's just temporary, and the security folks are cool with it.
Are we planning on parking here all day?

Not too sure we would want to drag our visitors from out of town all the way down to Galveston. The drive would be fun...but once you're on the island, traffic is usually a be-itch on Saturdays...and there's no place for everyone to park together, unless we meet at the new Home Depot on I-45 on the island.

I hate to sound so negative about everything; it's just that these are problems that we've run into in the past when organizing things for the Z Clubs (in other cities, with other Z Clubs too...so it's not just Houston). I'm still working on a meeting spot.
George, if you would follow through on the Willowbrook Mall thing...that might be do-able.
All other ideas are welcome.

The parking lot was were The Great Indoors used to live. I can check with Willowbrook Mall if ya'll want me to. To give you out of towners a little information on where it is, it is off of 1960 and 249, just north of Beltway 8. We do need to decide if it will just be a meeting ground, then leave to eat or what. I have no idea what is planned. There is plenty to do around the area.

My friend was looking through the Scion website and came across some photos of a Scion meet in the Marq- E ( 1 of the possible meet points) parking lot showing how many cars they had there and what the area looks like. They said they were not bothered by any security, and had no problems.
