Default Safc-ii

Hey guys, I recently purchased a 350z that came with an SAFC-II already installed.

Is this a good system for the Z? Anyone have any experiences good or bad? I've never used one of these piggy back computers.

For simple fuel trim corrections with basic bolt ons it's alright; definitely has its limitations vs the EU or utec. Price is another factor as is the extra price in tuning.

If you're just doing intake and exhaust, keep the S-AFCII. If you're going to do headers, cams, etc or even forced induction - then you'll have to ditch it for the EU / UTEC.

The car already has a CAI, Stillen Catback and DC sports headers..

So It'll be fine for now I guess. Thanks!

you really dont even need the SAFC for intake headers and catback. Your ecu will be more than able to correct for the higher flow.

so you think or you are sure that the ecu corrects the a/f? cause i know the ecu adjust the a/f but nowhere close to the 12.5 -13.0 everybody is trying to achieve. problably 11.0-12.0

I agree, I have not heard too many success stories with the SAFC units on the Z. The Z's ecu adjusts itself a lot, so it's hard to dial in the SAFC and keep that setting with the ECU doing it's thing. It's for sure not something you need for the mods that you have though. I think that the SAFCs are more trouble than they are worth on the Zs. On sentras, and older cars they work fairly well considering their limitations. If you're car is running fine with it, i'd just leave it, it would probably cost you more in labor to properly remove and uninstall the unit than you would get by selling it.

I've had mine for over two years now. Works just fine. I will be upgrading to a UTEC or AEM soon, but for what I had before the build, the SAFC II was more than enough.

The way I see it is that it is already installed and provided it is working properly, I would leave it in. They are great for very mild A/F tuning which is about all you need for minor bolt ons.

The SAFC II also monitors and datalogs knock and a few other parameters. Worth keeping in my opinion.
