Default Utec Idle Issue

Got the MAP sensor and Switch installed today along with the Utec. Install went ok. I'm in the G so the mounting was a bit a PITA.

Had the Utec hooked up and turned the car on.. All of a sudden I smelled gas and was blowing white smoke. I turned the car off and turned the car back on WITH THE STOCK ECU... Ran smooth again..

Made sure my map selector was on "0" on both the switch and the Utec. Stock settings.. Double checked by hooking up the Utec with the Laptop. DASH said "0" stock mode. Now what to do?

I have the Technosq TN single turbo reflash and also 380 stock TN injectors.

Car was running REALLY rough and loud.. Kept spitting out gas.. Leaked it outta the exhaust. Here's a quick capture I got of the log before I went back to stock ECU till I figure this stuff out. Need to get fixed asap... Tune end of the week.

Does anyone know how to reflash the DBW? It got the Utec all messed up when I did the reflash program.

I grounded that wire on the bolt like everyone else. Install seems ok... Don't know what's going on.

Matt I think you have to set the switch to B processor (DBW processor) to do the throttle flash.

Are the injector size parameters set to 380/380?

BTW, that log above doesnt say much without a tuner wideband attached, lol.

^^i figured.. all it says is RICH RICH RICH lol..

Do I have to set the injector size even if I have it in stock mode? I can't mess with the map in stock mode right? I'll mess with the reflashing after I get done with work.

IIRC (check the manual) larger injectors only work right on open loop fuelling and that only works if you are past the open loop throttle/RPM threshholds... not 100% on that.

Either way, yes you will need to set the injector size! That is quite possibly the cause of the strong rich condition (UTEC thinks the injectors are smaller, adding too much gas with the bigger ones).

As a side note, mode 0 on the UTEC isn't really just like the stock ECU... its just like filling out a fuel map with 0s and a timing map with ECU. Not the same as unplugging the UTEC (do an AFR log on map 0 then on stock ECU, definatly different).

Default Error in manual.

I had issues flashing the DBW system and actually flashed the main processor with the DBW firmware.

This was because the manual has a mistake on page 59 Appendix B in the table which specifies the switch info. The DBW processor is selected when the processor switch is set to A, not B.

So to flash the DBW processor you need to switch both of the switches towards the TurboXS logo. To Flash the Main processor you need to move the flash switch towards the TurboXS logo and the processor switch away from the logo. Once I flashed both it was all good again.

I phoned TurboXS when I was having issues and what they were telling me on the phone did not match what the manual said. They are looking into updating the manual.

Flashed the DBW and 2.6 last night.. I'm going to try to mess around with the parameters tomorrow to see what's going on.. Will keep this thread updated for anyone else having problems.

Where were the switches pointing when you flashed it?

Switch up toward turboXS sign on DBW, down on flash.

Looking at this it doesn't sound like a DBW at all. If it doesn't act like stock in stock mode. Return it to your dealer to get a replacement.

Thanks,

Jermaine~

Had it working for a good 20 minutes.. took a ride around town... finally when I pulled into the driveway.. it went into it's studdering frenzy again LAJS!@@(#U)(SJDAJD.

At first I thought it was the Molex ground since I regrounded it and reloaded all my maps (even though I was in stock mode)... Ran well for 20 minutes.. then it went back to spitting out gas..

Probably going to have to bag this one and get another Utec.. Calling up the dealer again heh. I just I hope can get this straightened out since my tune is next Saturday!
