I haven't seen it really talked about here. Is it like those superchip tuner things you see for American suv's where you can gain some hp/tq and also do speedo calibration for different tire sizes? Can anyone care to go into depth and show me some reviews for the 350z for it? Thank you?
COBB Tuning isn't a piggyback - they have an AccessPORT for the Subi's that plugs directly into the ODBII port and synch’s up with the factory ECU, (they’re currently working on a system for Evo's as well) - Once linked up to the factory ECU, you have access to control and change just about every parameter in the factory ECU – fuel, timing, boost, idle rpm, rev limiter, dynamic advance, data logging, etc... I'm running this system in my daily driven STI – the drivability and ability to tune the factory ECU is awesome! The basic AccessPORT comes preloaded with a few basic maps for bolt on’s and some other cool features such as a Theft lock on the ECU (car will not start) a valet mod (motor will not rev past 3K rpms), etc… They also sell Street Tuner software that enables your PC to access and control the factory ECU and they have ProTuner software for authorized dealers which give them the ability to lock out custom maps and a few other enhanced features.
I would love a like system for the Z/G - but it takes a ton of R&D to hack into the factory ECU and I’m not certain if they’re working on a system for the Z/G...

Oh okay because I read in some car magazine that they have AccessPORT for Nissan cars now and was wondering how well it worked. Their site nothing about this either. Hmm odd.
Yes, the AccessPORT for the Z/G is currently under development. We have a new website under construction that will have more information about the Nissan/Infiniti projects. The new website is a little behind schedule but I'm hopeful it'll be up in the next few weeks.
Capabilities are on par with what we do and offer for the Subaru models (and shortly EVO) so you can use that information as a guideline. We've been testing and flashing on all Z/G models, including our in-house 2006 350Z. And for that matter all other late-model Nissan/Infinitis from Titan trucks to Maximas to M45s.
We've developed all new hardware for our AccessPORT programmer that will be released this Fall. Expect more news on our website in the next few weeks and a release date announcement likely around SEMA (beginning of November).
Cheers,
Trey @ COBB

That sounds great. Thank you for clearing this up. In the July issue of Modified Mag, there are a couple of product hilights that say the Cobb Tuners will work on Nissans. I look forward to the development of this system and hope to see it soon.
That would be really cool to have Cobb tuning for the Z. I had Accessport on my WRX and it was great! Granted it was a turbo car with exhaust system. It's really easy to use software/hardware and it's usually tuned really well.

The current AccessPORT for most Subarus runs $650. For the Nissan market, we'll start with our completely new (under development) AccessPORT platform which is what was pictured in the magazines. Our goal is to keep it in the $600-$650 price range.
I'll be able to give more in-depth details regarding features once we near an actual release date but the basics would include:
- Reflash Capability (obviously)
- Multiple Map storage (for different "stages" or modifications and fuel octane, convenience modes like valet, anti-theft, fuel economy, etc)
- Ability to update maps via Internet (as improvements are made, you can download new revisions for free from our website and flash them to your ECU with no downtime)
- Ability to read/clear DTCs
- Ability to make Consult-II level adjustments and tests (Ign. Adv., Idle Speed adjustment, etc)
- Ability to datalog any engine/BCM parameter (like a Consult-II)
- Uninstall function to revert ECU to 100% stock as it was prior to installation.
- Measure 0-60 mph, 1/4 mile, and other acceleration data
Those are the basics. We'll of course listen to what you guys want and they to make changes/updates as possible.
I'll do my best to keep everyone updated.

A/F ratio adjustment, ability to view and log sensor activity (mostly air intake temp, injector duty cycle, water/oil temp, A/F on both banks, tach), ability to advance and lower timing +/-.. just the basic stuff and have a stage 2 piggy back or something.. that'd be great as hell..more competition=better pricing. Most of all, a easy graphical user interface for PC...most don't have that.

Are you going to also have something that will allow us to connect the tuner to our pc to upload the data, plus do firmware upgrades?
Will the data times of the 0-60 and stuff be in real time like the Gtech stuff?

thats how it usually works, thru the PC. It can log pretty much anything the ECU shows. This will be as good as a ECU flash from TS, w/o having to pay 500 bucks for every reflash. Its a free reflash
