I have searched and found no definite answer as to which engine management to use. In the next week or so I will be having headers, test pipes and underdrive pulley installed as i currently have the HKS Dual TI, Injen CAI and MREV 2. After this i was thinking about getting the UTEC or Unichip. Then i seen info on the Emanage on here. Don't know which to go with. Currently I am planning on staying NA at least for the immediate future. A TT might be in place when its not the daily driver. What do you all reccommend.

I would have to agree with this what everonye else has been saying too. I had the Unichip on my Super Charged Toyota and it was great. However I have the Unichip headquarters here in Oregon so they tuned it. If you have a shop that can tune Unichip its a good bet also.

The problem with a device like the emanage or unichip is that the timing value is a + or - factory timing..You loose consistancy in the tune with that. The UTEC allows absolute timing control as well as a plethela of other cool features neither EU or UC can offer..UTEC all the way..

It doesn't seem like too many people post their gains from tuning. The only one that I can recall lately was Wired 24/7, who gained somewhere around 13 hp max from his e-manage ultimate. I don't remember seeing any UTEC gains posted, I'm sure there probably are some though. If I remember correctly, people were estimating gains of 15-20 hp with a good UTEC tune.

I would do the UTEC, since its plug and play, and does not require a lot of wiring/installation labor/time.
lol I think the same thing about my EU sometimes.
the AFR / fuel tune seems very stable, but the EU sucks at timing adjustment.
For instance, adding 2 degrees timing seemed to hurt performance when I used EU but it helped when I did it with cipher...
go figure...
Frankly, I'm not to scared to blow my motor N/A. But if I get my vortech ever, I'll likely go with UTEC (depending on how this new GUI / new features comes out)
If you want my opinion, UTEC is definitely worth the extra cash AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A TUNER THAT KNOWS WHAT TO DO WITH IT...

How long approx. Does it take to tune a UTEC Vs F-Con? I mean if the UTEC takes longer than that means you pay for more Dyno tunning time and if you plan to do several upgrades that could result in cost/tunnig time to be equal on both units...RAWR
Sorry Hawaiian math.
Sorry Hawaiian math.
I really like the Unichip, its plug and play too and also easy to install. If you are going the self tune route having the preprogrammed maps are pretty nice, when you go the FI Route you would need to see a Certified Unichip tuner though who may store 5 maps. Unichip has some great features, get it with the PDA and you have Valet Mode, Vehicle Immobilizer, a code reader which can also clear the code, performance meters and way more. The preprogrammed map may not give you the highest hp increase possible with your mods but, if self tuning it should give you the least headaches.

well I talked to the guys at AAM in maryland and since i'll deffinitely be staying na I think I'm just going to drive down in december and have them tune it on the dyno. You guys think this is a good choice? I have intake, exhaust, hfc's, and plenum spacer. The only other thing I MIGHT do within the next two years is a header.
