Default Please read! tuning expert!

Sigh I Need ADvise/help

Current mods : Headers, test pipes, Y-pipe, UD pullies

I'm recieving my ZEX nitrous kit in within 15 hours lol. MY main concern is a GOOD tune.

I don't want to spend $900+ on UTEC right now, plus dyno time.

I want this car to be tuned perfect for the nitrous so its safe, but i hear ill lose 5-10 hp on NA if i dont use the nitrous...

Do I just get it dyno tuned?? $300 lose hp NA

Is there a chip or programmer out thier besides UTEC thats cheap, that I can at least change the TIMING in the car when I want? or edit other things?

When I had my 2003 cobra There was a DIABLO tuner u could buy for $200 used or 400 new, and u could change timing, lean it out or richen, rpm limit, traction control etc... Anything similiar?!? pleaseI need to know . i want to go to the track to see the difference!

many many many many many many people have used a 100 shot on thier cars and i have only heard to 2 Z/Gs blowing thier cars up with it with that hundred shot. i believe both of them had solenoid problems or something to do with switching the solenoids.

really really CHEAP and SAFE dont go together with these cars.

i ran a 100 shot on stock ecu for over a year with no problems.

if you buy something that retards your timing all the time, yes you will lose hp. if you buy something that retards your timing on the fly with a switch then you wont.

you really should read more before you get into nitrous. you ask a lot of questions that could simply be answered on THIS site with more reading...

This is a total n00b question but is it possible to have a performance shop tune the stock ECU or do you have to purchase some other form of EM?

believe it or not, the stock ecu is tuned very well from factory. Its better off gettin aftermarket EM system such as the utec, emange, etc. Utec will allow you full user control over the fuel and timing curves. Utec hands down is the most popular from all the reading ive done on the forum.

Very few shops can flash the stock ECU (search for Technosquare).

As mentioned above, the UTEC is the most popular because it is user tuneable and provides complete control of fuel and timing (not just adjusting or "piggybacking" the stock ECU signal, which can fluctuate)
