Default UTEC version 2.8 Software...

Does anyone know what was changed between version 2.6 and 2.8d that's on the TurboXS site?

Is there a release sheet with fixes/new features?

I spoke to them ealrier today.

the main focus of the 2.8 software is to get the boost control mapping to be functional.

Hopefully, blacktuner will come in and comment on the changes.

I have downloaded it, but have not flash the UTEC yet.

Is this so that we can use the UTEC itself to control boost by way of GM boost solenoids rather than use a seperate controller? I wanted to buy them when i bought my UTEC from Sharif, but he said nobody had gottem them to work just yet and i'd be better off using a seperate controller and gauge. Not sure if that's true for any other kit since we were talking about my Greddy TT?

TXS said they have a solenoid for $99 that works with the UTEC now that the UTEC has been updated.

I'm still not sure if I want to go that way or just use the TXS manual boost controller for $130. I only want to up my boost about 2 psi (for now.)

Oh well, the Blitz unit will add another little gizmo to my car, and it looks pretty.

The changes are as follows:

1. The 'Wastegate Closed Below MAP (psi, OFF = 0)' is not working properly at all in ver 2.7, and stays constantly on WGS (waste gate shut) mode at all boost levels. This means that if you are using the boost solenoid output, then any time you are above 80% throttle, the solenoid would hold open at 100% duty which would make the car overboost.

2. The 'Spare Solenoid ON above MAP (psi)' is faulty in ver 2.7. If you set a value such as 0psi, it would not turn on until about 30 or 40psi.

If you don't have a problem with your current Drive By Wire software don't bother uploading it. It is good to have around in case you flash the wrong processor.

Thanks,

Jermaine~

Are these the only updates BT? I ask because my UTEC shipped with 2.7. I am NA. I'd rather not yank the UTEC out of the car for an upgrade if that upgrade only impacts FI features, and all other features remain the same.

Please confirm for us NA guys if going from 2.6 or 2.7 up to 2.8 is worth the effort of a reinstall. Thanks!

All that is fine and good but what about the new GUI that everyone has been claiming will be released soon?

Updates on the new GUI please.

I was told that it is still months away. It'll be out first for the other applications.....then, it'll be adapted for the 350Z Utec.

having a GUI is really not a big deal.....Once you tune it,,,,,it's tuned!

I would like to see more resolution. The intermediate cells are almost a blur. logs will show jumps from 20 or 30% columns up to the 70-80% columns in no time at all when the boost comes on.

Sure... You keep telling yourself that. I'll believe it when I see it.

that means something similar to "never"

TXS has nice products but they suck @ product development. It took them years to make a speed density update for the WRX / STI Utec.

I agree... The really sh!tty part about it though is that they know we want it. They just dont wanna give it to us.
I've been hearing promises about a new GUI since before the UTEC for the 350z was released to the public (Which is why I bought mine in the first place)... Nothing but TALK.

I mean think about it... If the UTEC was easy to tune so that everyone could do it they couldn't get away with charging $300 - $500+ for tuning.

You're not paying $300-$500 for tuning because some guy knows how to navigate the current UTEC interface. You're paying it to use the dyno and for the expertise the tuner has in tuning cars. This has nothing to do with the interface. A UTEC GUI interface will not make you a better tuner. Only experience and a good understanding of how fuel and spark effect engine performance will do that.

The old school green screen DOS like interface the UTEC currently uses may not be familiar to most people today (which may have saved a few motors), but by now all of the tuners should be very good with it, and once tuned it's not something that changes often. Personally I'd MUCH rather see TurboXS spend their limited development dollars adding functionality instead of flash.

A GUI interface will not make our cars run any faster or any smoother, nor will it allow tuners to work any faster or do a better job tuning our cars, so why bother?

There's so much flawed logic flowing in this post from both sides. How 'bout everyone just chills and let whatever happens, happens.

TXS is a good company. They provide a good product. And they support it. Whatever happens beyond that is gravy.
