AccessPORT
Trey Cobb emailed me saying that the ecu will be out right after Sema for those of you who didn't know. My buddy has one on his sti and it works awesome and can be easily reprogrammed. The price is especially nice. Easy to re map your z if using turbos, meth injection, or just want to change fuel maps. Pretty cool

I can't wait for it.
iono if u guys are interested, but you can read more about it in the Infiniti/Nissan forums over at Cobb Tuning. I was reading about it and it's VERY interesting. Maybe blow other tuning hardware outta the water? It's like a UTEC, Cipher, and all those thingiemajiggers all in one. I'm not too much of a tuner but I liked the read:

I read somewhere it was supposed to be cheap, but your right, it should match the Subaru one which was like $600 (my buddy has one). He got cobb exhaust and the tuner and his car is QUICK! he paid like a little over a K for it all - new.

I had on on my Subaru briefly, it was pretty cool.I did not have the pro software to tune it at the time and was stuck with their base maps..
From what I've read on the Cobb site - you can restore the factory settings...a limited amount of times becuase of what likely is an EPROM space limitation. I tought that the AccessPort plugs into the OBDII port and contains it's own map so you don't need to always program the ECU. It's an option..
Am I reading this wrong???.
MRC - your site says Cobb Tuning - is your experience with them not favorable in respect to say UTEC or eManage?

The price I've seen leaked is $695 and $195 for the street tuner software. At any rate it probably won't be available to us for a few months unfortunately.
Im currently buying exhaust and racing headers for my Z from ssautochrome.com, through ebay and they look pretty nice! 399 for the JDM stainless exhaust with titanium tips that are burnt and $275 for the headers, check out their site. And if the ECU comes out before CHristmas I should have enough money for it. Its a good plan...
NOTE:
I belive the exhaust isn't on their actual site, but look their ebay store up through ebay and you can find them, but the headers are on the actual site

1) the lack of ability to modify your own maps without the addition of the expensive "pro" tuner package..
2) the fact if your battery went dead during the flash process, it would wipe out your ECU
3) if you ever lost the unit itself you would never be able to flash back to stock ECU settings..
Other than that it was pretty cool and easy to use..
I have never heard of a car that needed an ecu replaced from using an AP or any other engine mgmt. system and we've sold hundreds of AP's
The AP can be self tuned beyond the base maps Cobb provides (for common mods) - they have their street tuner software, shown here:

Also the software you linked to your store, is for tunning for simple mods, not a full custome tune..I believe the software to do that is in the $600 range on Cobb's website, but I might be wrong on that..
