Default AccessPORT

Trey Cobb emailed me saying that the ecu will be out right after Sema for those of you who didn't know. My buddy has one on his sti and it works awesome and can be easily reprogrammed. The price is especially nice. Easy to re map your z if using turbos, meth injection, or just want to change fuel maps. Pretty cool

I was talking about the COBB accessport for the 350z. It still hasn't come out, but is on its way. For like $400 it is the best ecu/flash

It's going to be $695 ($200 more for street tuner software) if I recall correctly and the software for the Z won't be ready for a little while longer. I'm getting impatient waiting for it but hopefully it will be worth it. The accessport 2.0 should be ready for sale soon, it's just not certain when it will be ready for our cars.
I can't wait for it.

iono if u guys are interested, but you can read more about it in the Infiniti/Nissan forums over at Cobb Tuning. I was reading about it and it's VERY interesting. Maybe blow other tuning hardware outta the water? It's like a UTEC, Cipher, and all those thingiemajiggers all in one. I'm not too much of a tuner but I liked the read:

it's not going to be anywhere near $400, not even the subaru platforms were that cheap but yes, it should be a nice setup!

I read somewhere it was supposed to be cheap, but your right, it should match the Subaru one which was like $600 (my buddy has one). He got cobb exhaust and the tuner and his car is QUICK! he paid like a little over a K for it all - new.

You sure he has the accessport and not access ecu (a one time reflash like TS or AAM)? I think it was $400. The old AP was 550-600, but the new ones will be a bit more. The price I've seen leaked is $695 and $195 for the street tuner software. At any rate it probably won't be available to us for a few months unfortunately.

From what they have been saying it will be able to modify anything on the ECU, however they haven't released a complete list of what they've been successful with so far (so may not be able to adjust TCS/VDC as nice as that would be). It is not a piggyback, it allows you to reflash your own ecu to a base map, and switch between realtime maps via the handheld transporter (which only has to be connected to change maps). You can use preloaded maps or modify your own...and they've said it will be able to datalog. Sounds pretty great.

Why do I forsee alot of DIY's needing new ECU's in the near future..lol
I had on on my Subaru briefly, it was pretty cool.I did not have the pro software to tune it at the time and was stuck with their base maps..

From what I've read on the Cobb site - you can restore the factory settings...a limited amount of times becuase of what likely is an EPROM space limitation. I tought that the AccessPort plugs into the OBDII port and contains it's own map so you don't need to always program the ECU. It's an option..

Am I reading this wrong???.

MRC - your site says Cobb Tuning - is your experience with them not favorable in respect to say UTEC or eManage?

Im positive, He has the controler with the plug, and it is married to his car. They are only $600 and since SEMA ended today, we should see it very soon Can't wait.

Yea like I said above, it is the actual accessPORT. I think it will be out before Christmas forsure, total market move and if not, stupid. SO well have to see, and everyone feel free to keep posting updates!

Im currently buying exhaust and racing headers for my Z from ssautochrome.com, through ebay and they look pretty nice! 399 for the JDM stainless exhaust with titanium tips that are burnt and $275 for the headers, check out their site. And if the ECU comes out before CHristmas I should have enough money for it. Its a good plan...

NOTE:
I belive the exhaust isn't on their actual site, but look their ebay store up through ebay and you can find them, but the headers are on the actual site

What Cobb has been saying is that you can reflash approximately 100 times. The AccessPort will reflash the base map, but also programs your ECU to accept realtime maps that you can change an unlimited amount of times. So you can adjust the realtime maps until you are happy with them and then only have to reflash once you are happy with it. All in all looks pretty interesting.

Cobb claims that the new version will reflash much quicker and have more saftey built into it to help prevent killing the ECU during a reflash. Hope they are right because I really don't want to buy a new ECU haha

Well they certainly would nt claim it would be "Less Safe" than the current versions, now would they..The Cobb Access port worked great on my Subaru, the only things I did not like about it was,
1) the lack of ability to modify your own maps without the addition of the expensive "pro" tuner package..
2) the fact if your battery went dead during the flash process, it would wipe out your ECU
3) if you ever lost the unit itself you would never be able to flash back to stock ECU settings..
Other than that it was pretty cool and easy to use..

I have never heard of a car that needed an ecu replaced from using an AP or any other engine mgmt. system and we've sold hundreds of AP's

The AP can be self tuned beyond the base maps Cobb provides (for common mods) - they have their street tuner software, shown here:

Adam, it says it right in their install manual, to ensure that the battery is fully charged and do not disconnect the Accesport while reflash is in progress or it could damage the ECU. Just becaust you never heard of it, does not meat it can not or has not happened somewhere,somehow..
Also the software you linked to your store, is for tunning for simple mods, not a full custome tune..I believe the software to do that is in the $600 range on Cobb's website, but I might be wrong on that..
