Apexi SAFC II/ Greddy emange
hey whats everyone. i have been reading and searching a lot on the forum about tunning. i see that everyone gets the best out of the mods with a good tune. i also noticed that a lot of members use the utec system. i cant drop 1000 bucks on a system like this. but what my question is that i have read the apexi SAFC is not the greatest system cause the ecu takes back control over after some time. on the other hand, the apexi is not expensive. now the greddy emange is great unit, but what parts would i need to buy to operate this unit. also is it user friendly were i can hook up my lap top to it.
my mods are as followed, JW pop charger, fast intentions test pipes and Apexi WS2 exhaust. i am probably going to a couple more things. also maybe even boosting down the road, but not anytime soon.
just looking for some opinions

I have just started using the emange to tune my car. I started out using the SAFC II and a zetronix WBO2 controller. From what I can tell with the emanage it is far superior to the SAFC but not as easy to tune. Though the SAFC will get the job done and do it well. From reading around the problem you are going to have witht either one of these system is you are going to be fighting the ECU to keep your tune.
I don'town a 350z I own a Spec v and how spec users remedy fighting the ECU is either remove the O2 sensors or go stand alone. This is why I think alot of 350 owners are using the utec plus they have alot more options witht the utec as far as tuning.
*If I am wrong please someone correct me, I am new to this board*

I have to respectfully disagree with Mr. Crazy. I'm running em blue and it's been a struggle to get the stock ecu to work in harmony with the EM. It does seem to finally be coming around as far as keeping the afr where I want it(~13ish:1), as long as I don't "cruise" in an area I have tuned (above 2k rpms with more than 20% throttle). Even then, the ecu tries to get the afr up to 14.7. It's been aggravating, but it beats the hell out of dropping 1k for a standalone, especially since I'm only NA, plus it's fun to tune it myself. And yes, you can (and should) hook it up to your laptop to tune it. Make sure you get the injector and ignition harnesses as well. If you don't, go to your local electronics/stereo store and get a radio harness adapter for an early 90s Mazda - it is the same exact plug for the ignition input on the EM blue.
Good luck!

Good luck!
