So I have been researching the UTEC for ever. Thanks to the threads here, I have learned alot and I know it is what I need. However, there is one nagging question that I cannot figure out (even after reading the manual twice). Can the UTEC log without a computer actually attached? I don't have a UTEC, so I cannot just try it out.

Incidentally, I am asking because I would like to datalog while driving, pull over and down load the data. Then, make adjustments, disconnect the computer and get back on the road again for more logging.

 

Nope, you need to have the computer connected to datalog. It's a bit cumbersom at first, but easy to get the hang of.

 

disconnect the computer? do you have a laptop?

 

Any mobile device with hyperterminal will allow you to do the same thing as a computer or laptop, so maybe that is a better choice for you?

 

Thanks guys. Great answers and it confirms what I suspected. Man, how hard would it be for them to add just a little flash memory. Oh well, still a great package that is worth buying.
