Question dead battery effect on UTEC

I have the map selector switch. My stock battery died the other day. Bought new battery... problem solved.

Now is my UTEC still on the same map as before? The UTEC itself is on zero....and my switch is on map 3. I was just curious if not having any power will reset the UTEC to a different map. Car feels a little off.....but it might be in my head.

Thanks.

The UTEC will not loose it's maps if your battery dies. All of your maps are stored on non volatile memory.

Thanks,

Jermaine~

yeah but here is what happened, your car has reset the ecu, the utec is actually a maf offset on the fuel when you are NA. soo the timing is probably still good but your fuel may be a little off, thats why it feels different, hopefully the computer will learn close to where you were here soon and it will be close to the same...

hey jermaine, please give me a call when you get a second tomorrow, 407 509 3513, thanks

That's interesting.

I guess that will always be an issue with a piggyback...

how long does the battery have to be unplugged to reset the ecu? I was only totally off power for like 5 minutes.

depends on what mode you are using the uTEc in.
In MAP based fueling, the inouts in the UTEC are absolute,.....not offsets of the stock ecu.

As long as it was tuned with open loop fueling turned on, it does not matter if the car was tuned in Maf Pull Down or Speed Density. The end result is that the car does not have control over the fuel.

I'll give you a shout today man!

Thanks,

ok so the user is N/A and as you said no problem with resetting ecu, disconnecting/dead battery if the open loop is on... that means playing with the rev limiter n/a (most likely)

all Fi cars should not worry about this then, correct?

I wish I could say that but I would be relying on what your tuner has done. Anyone who is familiar with the UTEC will almost always have open loop fueling enabled thus not relying on the factory ecu's fuel table.

All of my Base Maps are Open Loop Fueling enabled.
