Can anyone tell me what power gain and/or other benefits have been attained, any risks as to driveability re the Unichip supplied and fitted by Dastek guys? Also, no cat specifications in my country, can have it removed legally - pro's and cons?

Hey,
Kobus
Finally another South African.
Well the unichip only netted me about 7hp at Dastec and they actuaclly tried to overcharge me by R 800 after the job was done.
the car was a bit rich on top and that was basically the only place that showed some gains and I have an Injen intake and decat pipes.
In my opinion not worth the money ,time or effort just save up for FI
Also try snail conversions in Honey Due.
PS what colour Z do you drive

Hi Tyrone,
The Dastek thing does not sound good, but I have already paid a deposit and the guys have ordered the parts, doing it on Monday 4 Dec - will let yo know what these guys get out of it, charging me R 3 000. They are in George.
I have a blue roadster with the orange seats, black canvas. People seem to think it looks OK, I dig it!
Cheers and thanks for replying.

Cool
I had dastec remove the road speed limiter as well .
PS are you getting the plug and play unit.
You should see a bit more gains as you are at the coast.
good luck man

Hi there,
I had the chip fitted and the gains show 23 KW and 54 NM, so I was quite chuffed when I saw the print-outs.
But, it feels like it is much more when you drive it, difference in response is quite substantial. Part of it may be that the stock settings on the new spec with variable valve timing sees it only becoming active at fairly high RPM, around 3000 - which level he lowered so you have the benefit from lower down.
I was considering the twin turbo kit from RG, but am having second thoughts - roads here makes 200 feel like 250 already!
What did it cost to thake the limiter out though and how complex is it, the chap here seemed a bit afraid to try doing it?
Cheers,
Cobus

shyt dude ,
I need to use your tuner.
i had the car dynoed again at the place that I usually do and It seems almost the same in KW with pinging at the top.
151KW on the wheels here in JHB on a Hyper power dyno.
did not cost anything more to remove road speed limiter.
what other mods do you have on your car.
will have a chat to Dastec this morning .
if that is flywheel gains that you have seen it equates to almost 13% .
RGM only do the superchargers and Nxgen do the TT APS.
Still so impressed by the gains .wanna swap

Hi Tyrone,
I have had the cats cleared, they just knock the inner part of the cats out, same box - charged me R 300 bucks. Sounds magic now.
I am having a 150 shot NX kit fitted this week while away for work overseas, plus a new air intake - not sure what the tuners have decided on. Can't wait to get back, ****!
Charging me R 13 000 on the dot. Plus a further dyno a month afterwards included, because the car has only done 2 400 km's.
I will mail you dyno charts then, left the old ones with the tuners for comparisons.
Cheers,
Cobus.
