Do a search, general opinion is the UTECs temp compensation sucks.. most dont bother or tune for different temps

you can get it to work ok, i mean it does a temperate correction for every 10 degrees celcius, so in most climates, you will only see maybe two corrections. it could be a very good tool if it was set up first of all in Fahrenheit so us americans can easily relate to it and if it had a bit more resolution..

Simple 10C = 16F differential which creates a 1.4545% density change assumming baro and humidity are unchanging.

Yea +1... I was going to take a look at it this weekend as our days right now are low 90's and nights dip into the high 50's.. I am going to mess with it this weekend and will keep you posted..

hey rocks - that's a great spread of temperatures to test this UTEC feature with. If you can post what parameters you establish work well, that'd be awesome. It'd be a better than having a "winter" map and "summer" map even for those of us in more temperate climates. Here in NC as the season changes, it goes from maybe 40 degrees on one day to maybe 70 or higher by the end of the week. Not daily changes like you, but it'd be nice to know the UTEC can automatically adjust for this.

I waited untill it warmed up today, around 75 degrees here. We tuned it at around 45 degrees last night. 33 deg of timing with a pretty steady a/f around 12.8-13.2.. When it warmed up we used the temp compensation with a value of 1 in the higher tempratures. I also went to the dragstrip and i had a friend go down the track while i datalogged it. The a/f ratios were solid even at 89 degrees. So yes it does work fine. When we added a value of 2 in it was way to much fuel the a/f dipped all the way too 12.1 or so.

I am going to use the temp compensation at lower and higher elevations so i do not have to build new maps. I probably made 15 or so passes today and the tune was solid with the temp compensation.

The only problem i had at the track was with traction, my tires suck 275/40/18 BFG KDWs, with 20psi in them and a welded diff the best 60ft i ever got was a 2.4 lol.

Btw the comment about not tuning for diffrent trempratures is stupid when you live in a climate like i do. In the summer at night its around 70-80 and 100-115 during the day. This is why i tune my car myself.

It is actually 18 degrees F difference, not 16 per every 10 degrees C.

Well i will be testing how it works at lower atltude this weekend. I am at 3900ft in New Mexico. I am going to oklahoma where it drops down to right around 800-1000ft above sea level. Maybe i should trake it to a drag strip there to run a better time haha.

Hey rocks, are you getting the P1444 SES code, like the rest of us at higher altitudes and UTEC's are getting?

Yup it comes and goes. I have tried grounding the utec in 3 diffrent spots and i still get it so it tells me its not the ground. I wish we had some sort of open ecu tool to turn the check engine light off for diffrent things. The only thing i could think of would be grounding it directly to the battery (if its a ground problem). Its more than likley some sort of voltage problem.

It's not a grounding problem. I have a ground running from the UTEC directly to the battery because I have read about UTEC problems with the ground.

It's both altitude and UTEC related, I wish I could get rid of it!
