Besides UTEC
Besides UTEC, what do you think is the best overall ECU for under $1000. I know that the UTEC can adjust timing, but can you really gain more HP from the UTEC over lets say a E-manage ultimate?
Also, what else has the same capabilities as the UTEC except for cheaper?
THanks,
Daniel

I was reading about the Emanage Ultimate and it says you can adjust timeing and basically does everything UTEC does. What is the benifit of the UTEC over something like the EMU

You can buy a utec for under 1k. If your na the only thing you might want is the map switch. After that there's only install and tuning. If your handy and work on cars u can install it and then have it tuned.

That's not true. The problem with the E-manage ultimate is that it still offsets ECU timing (and I believe also fuel). That means that if the ECU switches maps or adjusts its trim, parameters, etc, then your tune is now off.
With the UTEC, you can choose whether you want to offset the ECU fuel level or set fuel completely independently. Timing is completely independent also. You have much better control with the UTEC.
It's too bad really because the Emanage ultimate has some features the UTEC does not have, such as pulling timing automatically during shifts (for autos). Anyway, the fact that it only has "piggyback" mode is usually a deal breaker for most (at least who go forced induction anyway).
The UTEC can be in "piggyback" mode at low load, and then once the engine load hits a threshold that you set, it can take over fuel and timing completely and not rely on the stock ECU at all. Much safer tunes result...
