Default Mustang Dyno

So i have been reading some pretty mixed things about these some people say that they run low others say high. the numbers are not really that big of a deal to me, it will be cool to see if the money i have through into this car has changed my numbers to what i am expecting or not. However i am getting my car tuned in the bigging of april on one of these, so what i am wanting to know is if using a mustang dyno is going to affect my tune in a negative way.

Mods at time of tune (if this matters)

stock Airbox with Fujita filter
UR pulleys
APS Tallboy upper plenum
MotorDyne MREV2
APS test pipes
JIC Y-pipe
UTEC

Thanks,
Shawn

A load base dyno will yield a good tune . But you will not like the numbers . If its set up right , it will read 10 to 12% lower than a DynoJet

On a Mustang dyno, tuners have the ability to put a load on your drivetrain which allows for more accurate tuning. A Mustang dyno can't negatively or positively affect the power that your engine puts out--it merely measures the torque at the wheels. Be sure to get a dyno reading before you install all your mods. You can compare this to the dyno reading after your tuner is done working his magic.

With all that being said, the best way to show how much power you have is by taking it the Z to the dragstrip. The resulting trap speed is what proves your car's power... My point is that you should always take a dyno's reading with a grain of salt.

yeah i'm getting the car dyno'd tomorrow at the same place they are having a dyno day. yeah i love going to the track, i haven't been in a while though due to the fact that i broke my subframe bushing and just got it replaced resently. i wanted to go tonight since the weather is pretty nice but its raining. it never rains here in Az why does it have to do it tonight when a want to go to the track

Mods for dyno tomorrow:

JWT pop charger
UR Pulley
APS Tallboy
JIC Y-pipe

i wanted the test pipes for this but they haven't come in yet. .

So i went to vividracing today and they did two dyno pulls on their mustang dyno, in third gear (they said that the dyno was not supposed to take the higher speeds for that long). well i dyno'd at 210 hp and 190 lb/ft. (<- that might be wrong) i will have it posted later when i find out how.

so depending on whether the mustang dyno reads higher or lower makes a huge difference. my friend who works there says that it reads about 30hp lower than other dynos, and i beilve i read on her that it is about 12-15% lower.

but i have also herd that they read higher (from a lot less people tho) so i don't know

and i can't decied if i should be happy that i got my car with 210 hp with 15.95 lb per hp to run a 14.026 or if i should be sad that my car only has 210 hp and turn emo and take a nice trip up the alley (non of that cry for help accross the street BS )

if some one could explain to this noobi how to post that up here in one of those little attachment things i would be much appreiative.

I dont know why they would say the dyno will not take higher speeds for long . Thats bull$hit . But on a Mustang dyno.....doing it in 3rd for a AT5 or 4th for a MT6 is perfectly fine . You can do it in either gear and yield the same whp

I dynoed 220whp on a Mustang dyno [AT5] with headers, plenum , not cats , and a dual exhaust . So you are right inline .

so is getting dyno'd in third ok. and how do i get the dyno onto here.

my torque curve is is pretty much flat it has a little bit of a curve but not a lot.

my hp just goes straight up for the most part with the peak right before the rev

oh and my MREV2 is going to have to wait for a little while so should i postpone the tune or should i get the MREV2 and just put it on when i get an exhaust, and get it retuned. paying for the tune a second time does not really matter to me it is not that expensive.
