the utec ships with this intake/exhaust map pre loaded (on the two units that I have seen with the 2.8d firmware)
you can run map 0 which is "stock mode" and allows the stock ECU to control (essentially passing the signals through untouched). This is great to log and see how the stock ECU is controlling your engine - then you can make small adjustments to that to create your own custom map.

+1 I wouldn't recommend using the preloaded map because some Z's run lean and some rich after NA mods. (The preloade map would have been waayyy off for my car.) I'd do some data logging with Cipher or the UTEC tuner and see where your AFR is. From there, it's pretty easy to create a map to get your AFR near 13:1 for a base tune. If you want more, you can find a shop and have them dyno tune it for timing and max hp.

thx for the help ..
so which means the utec comes with preload map in position 1 ...
and i can set it to position 1 for some na bolt ons without a tune for a short time right ??? or you have to download the base map from the website so u can set it on position 1 to run your car ???

It comes with a map preloaded in map 1. But like I said, that preloaded map would have been much worse than running map 0 (stock map) on my car. I would suggest running map 0 until you can datalog AFRs.
