It's actually pretty easy to tune a UTEC. Your friend's UTEC map would be useless to you, as every car is different. With Cipher software you can log A/F ratio through your factory wideband O2 sensors, then tweak your UTEC to get 13:1 A/F ratio.

For timing, log your stock timing with UTEC, then bump it ~2 degrees across the board.

That should result in a simple, yet effective, street tune.

It would help if we knew your location, we may be able to recommend a shop to tune for you. Also, if your friend has a UTEC map, where did he get tuned? UTEC is very simple to mess with, any competent Greddy EM/EMU tuner should have no issues with it...

Keep the utec, tuning either one is pretty much the same. I am just going the other way from an EU to the UTEC. I like the idea of having total control of the air fuel and timing vs adding and subtracting from what the stock computer puts out like the EU.

i dont think anyone where me and him are from (vancouver canada) have ever tuned with UTEC
theres a guy with 500hp on his greddy TT and hes still using the EU cause noone "apparently" is capable of messing with the UTEC
my suggestion to u fairlady(op) is to just get the EU since itll be a lot easier to tune, u wont get max HP out of it, but atleast ull be tuned, ur car is N/A so i dont think it will be that big of a deal IMHO

im sure there are people in BC that can tune with UTEC cause i think subaru guys have done it in BC but they are like pretty far and yea like u said it might not be worth the drive for an N/A tune...

p.s. SELL ME UR SPACER LE~ LOL

I'm from Vancouver, BC as well... I have a Greddy TT setup + UTEC. Tuning with UTEC isn't that bad... once you get used to it. I find using the UTI Datalogger also makes reading the maps a little easier - http://www.jeffsoftware.com/software.php?product=UTI

Check out Rocket Rally Racing (http://www.rocketrally.com/). Talk to Jamie Slater. The shop is located in Squamish, BC.

The only reason why I haven't brought my car up to them is that I my attempt to self-tune has been successful (so far ).
