Default How much does a tune normally cost?

I recently purchased a Unichip on here for reallllly cheap, so i called up the closest shop that tuned unichips in my area to find out how much it would cost me, turns out they charge $500 for a basic tune! is that a normal price? i was expecting somewhere around $200, but $500 sounded ridiculous to me, thats three times what i payed for the chip itself!

Oh, if anyone knows any shops in south florida that tune unichips with a little more reasonable prices, please let me know, thanks

If you're getting tuned on a dyno that typically rents out at $150/hr and it takes 2.5hours to complete the tune then that's not an unreasonable quote.

I got an EU tune for $250 and there probably isn't anything easier to tune than an EU .

I could easily see $500 if it's done right

The break down was a base price of $350 to tune unichips, plus $150/hr of dyno use, so he quoted me $500, so i guess it'll only take an hour? i dont know...i just wasnt expecting it to be so much, o well, its already "tuned" for the parts i have, i just wanted to get it retuned for my car.

I've never had a Z tuned but my STi Protune was $300 and my Evo IX was $400 at AMS.

Most Evo/STI pretty much charge that much. I have 3 shops all expert on UTEC and STI shop all charge around $375 to do a Full Tune. Most 350Z/G35 shop tend to charge around $450-$600

hey there, i am in orlando and looking to get the hardware to tune unichips.

we usually charge between 400-600 depending on the situation.

sometimes a little less if we do some other work on it at the same time.

let me make that call today to unichip and ask about the hardware

Well you're kind of stuck since only tuners can tune the Unichip. The price is fair if you find someone you trust - it takes *skilled* labor to get a good tune!
