Default HKS EVC question....

hey guys
i have the hks evc 6 and im not sure if this is a problem or not....
just installed a turbonetics(t-66) st kit with a tial wastegate and im using the hks boost controller....i set it to the basic settings that hks suggests with a wastegate and set the a to (11psi) and b to (15psi 4 the race gas and ic sprayer) settings....
now i know u shouldnt drive it at all but...my car right now is running off of my procharger 12psi tune(utec) with 550cc injectors....i upgraded to 750cc injectors and actually had to turn the fuel pressure down to about 43psi at idle for it to idle smooth and not die on me....now since i know its running rich i took it for a lil drive...nice drive not beating on it...wanted to get a bit into boost and right when i started to get into boost it was like i hit fuel cut!! and wouldnt go into boost...maybe 1-2psi max and the hks just flashed the boost it was at and that was it....something wrong with how i setup the boost controller?? a vaccum/boost line backwards?? or is it just the fuel/timing need to be WAY adjusted??
called a few shops and they werent sure...grd isnt taking appointments for a while sooo...ne ideas??
thanks
ryan

The HKS is really easy to setup, but you have to follow the instructions very carefully, and setup the initial parameters exactly as described in the manula. You need to select "psi", and then "poppet valve" since you have an external gate. Then you set the base boost pressure. This is an estimate of your boost pressure with wastegate alone. Then you set the target. The target needs to be at least 1-2 psi higher than base for the initial setup.

After that, you can increase or decrease boost with the ****.

Make sure your vaccum lines are routed per the HKS diagram in the installation manual.

I will call you shortly...got your message.

George at GTM told me to do this:

To set the base boost pressure you should do a 4th gear pull to determine what your baseline actually is. You can do this at the screen after you select PSI and your wastegate type. Then the screen after that, you set your target boost and hit the button. Then the last screen shows a "100%" which you can adjust. Do another pull, and you can adjust the % until you hit your desired boost.

I am having the problem you are describing as well, i believe it is from running far too rich (sub 10s). I believe it is because @ 0psi the utec is taking control of the fuel instead of your ECU. Basically right as you hit 0psi its like the whole car is bucking right?

I wish you luck, ill let you know if i learn anything new when I take it to the tuner.. again..for the 3rd time. 3rd times the charm I guess :P lol

I have recently purchased a used HKS EVC 6 and it did not come with instructions. I've gotten it installed and working but am having bad wastegate flutter. I did not go through the initial setup because I could not figure out how to reset the damn thing.

Anyone know how to do this so I can set it up for my car?

Or would anyone be willing enough to scan a set of instruction because HKS doesn't have any on their website?
