Default Engine Stress

Hya all, just wondering if I can pick your brains, I am meeting up with a very good and respectable tuner today and going to invest in some engine mods before I go to Mexico tomo.

Now before people start saying it, I dont want to go down the supercharger route or turbo route. I just want a bit more power without too much done to the engine and too much hassel.

So in short just going down the HKS Fcon IS and wet nos kit 50 shot:

http://www.ultimatez.com/shop/index....p=1&itemid=155

(these are not where Im buying them from just pictures and descriptions to aid understanding)

Now He said the Fcon will be able to see everything going on with my engine bay, it will remap the ECU and allow the exhaust, high flow cats, plenum and induction kit come into play and also de-restrict the top end speed to 170mph. The wetkit Nos on top will be just for a bit of fun. Can anyone see any problems or BS with this set up?

Will it have any problems on the original engine management system or stress on the engine compartments them selves. Will I need to buy anything else to help aid this setup or support it?

Just want to make sure before I part with the cheque

you DO NOT need to spend all that money on an FCON if you are staying NA. Get a UTEC, plenum spacer, intake, test pipes, headers and exhaust and tune and call it a day.

For your application, the only significant difference is the $$$.

+1, depending on the extras, the only difference will be around $1000-$1500. Don't throw away your money on an Fcon.

As for your nitrous, if your spending the money to do it right, put at least a 100 shot on there. With the proper engine management (i.e. UTEC), you should be able to safely do a 125 shot. Don't waste your money on a 50 shot. You won't even feel it.

one thing you guys posting are not taking into consideration is where he lives

He is also talking about the F Con IS, not the F Con V - the IS version is not nearly as costly as the F Con V that we know here in the US

Jay - as I've told ya, don't get stressed out over 1 ecu vs another - the TUNER is your most important decision - the model/brand ecu is far less important in the overall picture given your plans for the car

A 50 shot is plenty for a street driven car, and is absolutely noticeable on a lightly modded Z. Yes, you can go higher, but I know Jay well, and I know that he's not going to be interested in the potential other pitfalls of running 100 + shot

Enjoy your vacation Jason!
