Default Anyone use UTI logger?

Hey guys,
I just picked up a UTEC and (as you can see with my mods below) I figure it's time to tune and hopefully get some significant gains (not just in horsepower but because of the gears, lightweight flywheel, etc. some driveability and a useful powerband). My question is, has anybody used UTI logger software? I've heard good things from a friend of mine who has a supercharger and is now going TT but I wondered if anyone with similar mods had used this and what kind of gains you had seen? Anyone willing to share their base map with me so that I can have a starting point for a street tune? Anyone with different software have a base map with similar mods and reasons why you used this software? Sorry for all of the questions. I've been reading around the tuning section and I mainly wondered about whether anyone had a base map with like mods but figured I'd ask the other questions too, . Thanks for any help,
Fletch
P.S. The car will mostly be used for auto-cross and some road course events.

You won't gain anything from this software, it is simply a logging tool.

I've used it and it does what it is supposed to do - provide a GUI for UTEC data.

As stated, it is just a logging tool. It does have a built in autotune feature, but I haven't messed with that. Regarding a base map, you could always download the Intake/Exhaust base map from turboxs' site. Instead of doing that, I just logged for a while in map 0 to see what the stock ecu was doing for timing and went from there. I didn't see you mention how you were going to monitor your afr. Without having a good means to do that I'm not sure I would feel comfortable street tuning it.

I was thinking of getting UTI... But I've been using the raw utec data output for so long, I guess I'm just used to that now. Although the UTI Dashboard would be nice.

Nothing wrong at all with just using the straight output. The dashboard is OK, but the one feature uti has that I am really happy with is the ability to set a trigger threshold to autolog pulls. This way you get a series of relevant logs whenever your pull parameters are met without having to touch the laptop to log each pull......or creating a huge log for multiple pulls with irrelevant data in between pulls that you have to work around when analyzing.

Nice! An auto-threshold trigger during logging would be very useful indeed. It's a pain to pull over after every couple runs to sift through pages of irrevelant utec output -- Make a few map tweaks here & there -- Then do a few more runs... The trigger threshold alone might make UTI worth the $30 purchase price... :-)

I still wouldn't trust the UTI auto-tuning feature though...

Yes, imagine going through thousand of irrelevant data UTI is great plus I like it that it also give you sound when things reach a certain threshold plus Auto Logging feature is FTMFW. My only problem is that Dashboard still don't work for me Also the GUI makes it easier to see which cell you need to adjust.

The UTI's main benefit is bridging O2 data and UTEC data. This allows the end user to use any wideband they want, and not be forced in to paying for the TurboXS unit that is overpriced and low on features (like external display).

Using the UTI I can have full UTEC logs with my AEM wideband info.

Yeah, I feel like that autolog made it worth the price.....and lol, agreed about the auto-tune. It looks like the default afr values in the autotune tab are for a boosted subie or something. You would have to go in and manually edit a .csv to tailor the values to the Z, but seeing how this was clearly developed with a different manufacturer's vehicle makes me want to stay away from it.

AthernsG: I saw you in another thread talking about your dashboard issues. Shame you can't get that working. You really aren't missing out on a whole lot, but I'd want it if it didn't work for me too.

Kevin,

The TXS Tuner does have a signal out for using an ouboard A:F gauge. I have mine setup using a digital DynoTune wibedand A:F gauge.

I guess I was looking at it from a cost standpoint.

You can purchase an AEM wideband for $300 and the UTI for $30, or you could purchase the TurboXS wideband for $430 plus add to it the cost of the display (I'm guessing around $70, so $500 vs. $330 for basically the same thing).

Kind of off topic, but I was researching the internal architecture of the TXS Tuner (Reg)... It looks like it is based on an 8 bit, 16mhz, 80286 processor (vintage 1983 technology)! The "P" version of the Tuner Reg is a 16 bit, 16mhz, 80386 processor (1985 technology)... I heatsinked the Mosfets & processor on mine with some Arctic Silver Adhesive just to make sure it doesn't get hot. Lol! :-)

Lol!! Yeah, PATA 133 drives (parallel IDE) believe it or not, benchmark just as fast as SATA1 drives on an 800mhz based FSB (Front Side Bus). I have my FSB cranked up to 1220mhz with volt mods and watercooling . So I put a couple 750Gb PATA 133s in there for cheap data storage.

BUT -- The beauty is my Boot/ Game drives are a set of RAID 0 - 10,000rpm Raptors 16 mb cache each... Controlled by a dedicated Adaptec RAID card with 1gb cache. They're pritty damn fast (benchmark as fast as Chetah SCSI drives) and I had to route dedicated cooling to them. The whole system is also RAID 5 compliant with an external drive enclosure (for drive mirroring/ replication).

Anyway I digress... Lol! Here's the cooling mods I did to my Tuner Reg "P". The blue sink is for the Mosfets (which do get pretty hot), and the gold sink is for the CPU (which probably doesn't get hot enough to warrant a sink) but it looked cool. :-)

Next time I have my UTEC apart, I'll sink it up too~ Lol!

Sorry for the poor quality cell phone pic...
