I know you need one if you go FI but I haven't really found any information on using an F-Con, UTEC or E-Manage for NA applications. Is there any power or use to getting a piggy back system for an N/A car?

There's plenty of people on this forum that have a UTEC for NA applications.

I've got one, it's been my favorite mod, it's like a totally different car, night/day, etc. Just make sure you pick a good tuner.

But are there good gains produced from useing a UTEC on an NA car? I am looking to justify the cost to myself of getting a UTEC, or other engine management system, for NA. Because in the future I will be going FI and will need it at that point. If there are good gains to be had in the present I could get it now.

From what I've seen, it really depends on:

-what mods you already have
-how your ECU adjusted to those mods already
-the tuner you choose to work on your car
-your budget

I already had: upper plenum, headers, high flow cats, catback. So the UTEC was necessary to get the full potential out of the mods. I'll probably go FI someday, so the UTEC was a good choice for me.

here's my dyno chart (dyno dynamics):

My baseline was 219rwhp (dyno dynamics), so I gained about 17rwhp at the peak, not to mention all the midrange hp/tq. Without looking at the dyno sheet, the car was like a whole new car after the tune.

So with the mods and before the UTEC Tune you where 219? Then after the UTEC+Tune you made 236? Equals the UTEC+Tune gained you 17hp?

I'm thinking of doing test pipes in the very near future, since it won't interfere with FI install. At the same time is when I would do the UTEC+Tune.

Yes, that's correct.

I'm assuming you're going back to AAM for test pipes + UTEC + tune?

Well, first I am going to shop around to see what kind of prices I can get. I'm not made of money but I have already set aside the budget for pipes, UTEC and tune.

I'm NA + UTEC Tuned. Full boltons including headers. As Tranceformer said, the UTEC is very much worth it on NA for the tunability and performance gains.

I know my local options, just waiting on price quotes. Ofcourse reputation plays a factor as well.

You rock Wired. I was doing my search with UTEC keyword and had like a bazillion hits.

New search actually gave me the results I was looking for. Now I can't wait to git'r dun!
