Default Stand Alone ECU

I've read a lot of detials on here about F-Con, PowerFc etc but what i was wondering is, does the stand alone ECU need to have anything special to work on the 350Z HR engine.

I have a ECU sitting in my room that i have no use for, it was going in anohter car but that project has been scrapped now and i was wondering if it could put it in my Z.
