Post Question to all UTEC users

Good Day Z/G community

How many are happy with the UTEC ?

Ive been searching and reading up the threads here about the UTEC, I am new to all this and this fourm.

So far as I read this blows out the TS flash.

Im going to purchase a UTEC hopefully by the end of this weekend with the map selector.

Altho I dont own a Z , I have a 04 A34.

My plans is to tune the VQ with the UTEC and spray a 75 wet shot.( currently waiting for a tune and dyno before dumping laughing gas )

Im more than likely to do a Dual Rear Mount Turbo setup by the end of this year.

I just wanted to see some pros and cons from the guys here , I know most of the threads are more tech talk. Im learning and reading a bit more and more on it but I want to hear from those that purchase it , if they were happy with their purchase.

Hopefully this is the unit that sets me apart from the TS reflash from the rest of the 6thgenmax community that have the TS ecu

Thanks in Advance for any comments and helpful insights.
Currently trying to find a UTEC tunner in S.FL

Have you looked at Osiris as a solution to your needs? We'll have End User Tuning, and the ability to handle FI systems in the near future, well before you move to the turbo setup. Ask around, there are tons of people using our system and they'll explain why we're different from TS.

Also if you do manage to move to the UTEC in the future, there are plenty of people that continue to use Osiris to help lock down the ECU so that UTEC works better.

So this will work with the 04-06 maxima??(A34). I'm only asking because there were numerous e-mails sent to uprev about Osiris oly to find out that they weren't willing to work with the A34 maxima. Can the present uprev tune be used on the maxima??

You'd have to bring an unsupported vehicle either to us, or to one of our Pro Tuners. They can check the ECU and make sure that our product can talk with it. If they can dump the ROM, we can patch it and then they would be able to tune it. We do not have premade tunes for cars that are not listed as supported. So there will be a dyno/tuning charge.

ok well we right now no one in Austin TX with a 6th gen is knee deep into the performance, thus why I ask about the UTEC..

Until UpRev can provide the A34s , I will have to go with the UTEC asap since the car needs to be seriously tune with the n2o.

after that the car goes back into the shop for a few months for more work.

Please can we stay back on topic for the opinions on UTEC users on here with the Z guys ?

Thanks

I have no experience with any other engine management or n2o setup, but the UTEC is doing a great job so far for my Vortech. You'll see in the F/I section, there are some newer, more expensive EMS's out there that have some really nice features. But if you don't have a crazy setup, then the UTEC should be plenty fine.

I've owned a UTEC in the past, currently still use Osiris, and the Haltech is the primary EMS now.

UTEC works and will do what you want. It is seemingly an end of life product as there has been no update in over a year...

Too bad UpRev can't help you out as the soon to be released end user tuneable Osiris product is superior to the UTEC, no question about it. I guess the enthusiast market for the Maxima isn't big enough...

excatly , theres only a handful of us that are into making the VQ35DE wake up on the A34s , the rest of the guys wants to be on 22s and TVs.

If Osiris had something for us I would have jump onto it.

As for UTEC , What update does it need ? Should I reconsider now ?

I dont want to be on any down time with the TS reflash, dont have much options plus I rather have something thats plug in play so I can always go back to stock in case if I sell the car. It would be a pain to get the TS

utec user sice 05, and its continued to work flawlessly for me

other ecu's have come out since its introduction, but given the price point and ease of use it remains a terrific product

utec here....only thing I dont like about it is the transition point between the ECU and UTEC....You learn to drive around it, but is annoying sometimes. Other than that, great EMS....

OP - if you are just spraying a 75 shot, you really dont need the utec....not that it wont help your numbers...but a 75 shot jets have a good a/f ratio...So strap on the spray now!!!

that transition is all in the tuning, trust me. My car is absolutely seamless at any throttle position, and any rpm

Yeah but I would also like to have the car tune and dyno as well , I currently dont have anything plus I want to get rid of the goven and raise the rev limiter...

For all you guys running the UTEC , do you tune it yourself or do you have a shop do it ? someone told me the UTECs are pretty complicated ? or am I just hearing false statements?

I have the UTEC and the tuner and have been learning how to tune on my own. The manual does a pretty good job of getting you started and then just alot of reading on the forums.

i am currently runing a 75 shot with a utec that i tuned myself and it works great. u actually have to install the older software to get it to propperly run the juice but once you get that squared away it is a pretty awsome system for running nitrous. it can control the whole process with its spare solenoid feature which makes life easier and a bit safer. it acts as a window switch and throttle possition sensor so that is 2 less parts u have to buy. good luck.

Nice thats what I like to hear ,this makes me more confident about my purchase , I getting the UTEC with the remote map for a pretty decent deal.
I cant wait to get it install.

Im hoping its a plug n play for the Maxima as well , if not then I guess I will have to purchase a harness
