Default Ecu + stock

I was wondering if it was worth having with just the stock car? Then as you buy mods, tune as you go.I came from the Acura k20a motors and with a Hondata and the stock engine you could make more hp/tq just by upgrading to a reprogrammable ECU.Just wondering if its the same for the 350z engines.I know i gained like 15 hp just buy upgrading my ecu and getting a good tune.

Correct. Even with a completely stock car you will gain power. On top of that you will gain other things, like map switching, wide open throttle, etc.

Also unlike with Hondata you don't need to do a full dyno tune, you can get something like our product that is a basic flash that we customize to work with your specific vehicle using our eTune service.

Im not understanding.I thought that every motor is different from the factory.Want the car yield better hp/tq from a real tune? Seems like getting a flash would hold back some cars because that map is already set off a certain tune. Its not really tuned for that specific car correct? I understand you have a tune for say a certain exhaust/intake/cams. you send me a flash similar to my setup but it might not be the best tune for my enginecorrect? since its not tune for or by my engine?

Thats half the story and the reason why we're ahead of the game. We send you a flash like you're talking about. Because of how our system works, we have you send back a log file so that we can adjust that basic flash, we correct it to work with your car. It's not quite a full dyno tune, but it's as close as you're going to get without loading your car on the rollers.

We can also support a full dyno tune with our software if you so choose. We have Pro Tuners world wide.

Engineers today may only leave 5-7% safety margin [in tune to avoid piston or cat overheating] . Years ago [before obdII] they might have left 10-14% safety margin because there were fewer sensors and ecu used slower 8 bit processor vs dual 16 bit today.

The problem with a ragged edge tune is todays very low quality fuel! Todays premium may not even match the regular of 5 year ago. Don't be fooled by pump marketing sticker for average octane..........pretty meaningless as far as BTU per gallon or MON [motor octane index]
